DO YOU HAVE A LIMIT?

Jul 17, 2008 11:12 pm Report Abuse

Do you have a limit as to how much money you spend per day playing online poker? Well I think I need to start. I spent about $25 yesterday of my $100 bank on FoolTilt. I think my new limit will be $15 per day versus my return. If I don't win atleast to break even, drop down to $10. I think this will make me play more careful. My mind be telling me, ah you got $80 play, play, play. LOL. ( Talking to yourself about poker is considered crazy in some cultures.) Well back to limiting your bankroll play. I am gonna pick tournies with a good return if I cash. The Double-A&B are pretty good once the all-in feast has ended. I got knocked out of the A&B today, but I'm gonna try again. X

My bankroll is a bit larger, but if I lose 10% of my bankroll in 1 day, I usually stop and take a breather for at least several hours. I've had a few days where I went on tilt from bad beats and lost upwards of 30% of my bankroll. I'm trying to get a handle on it too. It always takes longer to win it back than it does to lose it.

Good luck!

this is something I've been thinking about myself. Not to sound like I know like I'm gonna..but I win alot more than I lose. But my problem is...I don't know how to walk away. There is days I play and get beat..and I mean bad beat left and right...whatever..it's part of poker...but then I just self destruct. I start taking my loses into the next game and bam..happens again. I always think I can make my loses back right away...which is normally true..until I start noticing I'm thinking like that..than I just lose lose lose.So Yes..a limit would be real good. It's always good to have a limit which I need as well during loses. Hard think is to set one. If all you do is play $1 games...than bad beats are a coming. You play higher stakes and lose 1...it hurts. I don't know the amount to set...BUT YES YES YES...SET A LIMIT!

B/R management is a great idea, wish I could find a way to use it. lol I have no control, if I drop 50, next thing I know I have dropped 100 and so on and so on. I have had 2 rather extreme meltdowns, for more like 100% of my b/r(in upwards of 2-400 each time), and I have learned nothing from it. Lol I am dedicated!

Even though I could deposit $500 anytime I wish @ Pokerstars, I have set a new weekly limit to $100 (not counting transfer fees, which really make it $110). That way 1, I can't insta blow a huge chunk of $ set aside for other things and 2, keeps me from playing the game that has killed me this year and adds up to more than 1/2 my losses for the year, the dreaded 1-2 donkament cash game that is Omaha 8 Limit 6 Max. No one ever folds ever, got RR'd and coolered so many times out of pots, 4-5 people going 4 bets pre ($20 - $25) in the middle before a card is ever dealt, as u sit with AA23ds or A234ds and the flop is all face cards like K-J-10 and not of your suit(s) and u have to fold despite the pot being so large, and the pattern repeating itself again and again and again.
