That's right, I have a bad beat story. I know i recently wrote that I don't believe in bad beats. This story is just to good to pass up. Due to my new expert level (the blue bird). People just are not suppose to play like this against me, right everyone. I hope everyone knows I am kidding.
So I arrived in Everett last night, This is a city just outside of Seattle, Washington. This is also very close to Tacoma. The home of theSINISTER. No confirmed sighting of her though. So like I was saying. I arrived at my friends house. Him and his roommates have all heard about me and my love for poker. So we decided to get a home game going. We started a holde-em tourny. The buy - in was pretty spendy, $1,lol.
I will skip all the details about me dominating the table and get right to the juicy stuff. I get dealt A -5 UTG. I make a standard raise of 3X the blind. Everyone folds around to the BB. I was getting way to much respect at this table. The BB calls me. This donkey was playing a lot of hands, this should put a caution sign in my head. My read was this guy just didn't know how to play. Honestly I knew he didn't really play. This was actually his first tounament. Good read huh?
Well the flop comes 2 - 3 - 4 rainbow. I have flopped a wheel. BB checks and I make a bet of 1/2 the pot. He calls and the turn card is another 3. BB makes a large bet. I am thinking WTF, no way. Well if he has trips, i figure i will make him pay to out draw me and hit his boat. I re-raise and he just calls. Now stupid me, i am not watching the river card. I am starring him down to watch his reaction to the river card. No emotion on his face, he just says all - in. Wow this guy is good, really good. I tell him, looks like your going to get a hard lesson in poker kid. I call and flip over my straight. As I am doing this, I looked at the board finally. What do I see, another 2. slh***^^mfkaj, is all i can think to my self. If he did have trips it was all over. Actually he didn't evern need that last 2. He flips over his cards and reveils his 2 - 3 off. Now who the hell calls that kind of a raise with 2 -3 off. A donkey who has never played before, that's who.
Here is the twist to this little story. Yes i have refered to this guy as a donkey. A term i have stated before, that I don't and never will use. Well I am affectionetly refering to him as a donkey, lmao. I told him I am teaching him what people will refer to him, if he continues to play this way. A good lesson I think.
The pro player has been the first eliminated. That is what they were calling me, since all I do is play. Usually an embarresment of this magnitude would send any sane man into a rage. Cussing and screaming. Not me though, if you have ever played with me. You know I just don't do that anymore. Actually i don't care, normally i would have in front of my friends. Who should never beat me.
This is what I did. Here is the dramatic twist. I looked at him and said with the biggest smile on my face. You are truelly a great player and will do great things someday. I was not being sarcastic, I meant it. Then I threw my pennies at him and stompped off. Yes I said pennies, don't act like u never had to use pennies. Everyone laughed and made jokes.
As I walked away, a tear came to my eye. I had never been so happy to lose in my life. I had never been so proud. That donkey who took me out was my 10 year old son Chris. That's right the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Last night was our last night together, until an undetermined time. What a great memory for both of us. Just the night before. He stayed up with me all night and railed me. After I took first, he ran around the house celebrating. Telling me I was the best, sniff. Then he walked up to me and hugged me, telling me me, l love you. He was obviously very proud of his Dad. Then the nevt day he beats me, doh!!! Today is a very happy and sad day. I couldn't wait to get up and write this. Also the time for his mom to show up is arriving to fast. I have enjoyed our time together. I know I should be happy for that. In all actuality, it makes it that much harder to see him leave. Good news though. Me and his mom are actually getting along better. She has said he can come back one more time. Time to hit the tables and make some money, lol.
