Would you buy a bogus Ferrari?

Jul 13, 2008 7:29 am Report Abuse

I was reading some headlines and saw this little tidbit...makes you wonder if you'd buy one, hmmm....

Italian financial police have busted a ring of counterfeiters who built fake Ferraris and sold them for as little as $30,000 a car. Authorities have confiscated 14 fake Ferrari Modena 360's, seven of which were sold and the other 7 under construction.

Investigators do not know how many of the cars have been sold in the past, but it is known that the buyers KNEW the cars were fakes and were clearly seeking to impress unknowing neighbors with the sleek bodied speed machines.

The 360 Modena went out of production in 2004 with a then pricetag of $215,000. The current suggested retail price for a 2004 model is around $150,000.

I wouldn't buy one real or fake. But I guess if I had to choose I'd lay down 30k for the fake before I'd lay down $150k for the real one.

wow, buying a fake ferrarri is lame, i can get a 328 GTS (magnum PI's Ferrari) for 30K and would much rather have that. If a girl will fck you cuz your driving a 360 modena and not fck you cuz your driving a 328 i say fck her and not in the loving way. the girl thats after my bankroll better be sitting across from me on poker table, she'll get a better shot that way......

lol, i actually sat and thought about this for a few minutes. How funny is that. I figured, i would never be able to afford the real thing. So why not buy a fake. Then i realized, i would look totally stupid in either one. I am way to big to climb in something that small.

as long as it was not noticeable to the naked eye and was a well built machine id buy a fake ferrari. only after i buy a lambo first tho

Champ....you know, I was thinking the same exact thing, why settle for fakes when you can have the real McCoy for the same price.

Then, I got to considering just what BigWord said.....me in a Ferrari is like Oil and Water.....it just don't go together, lol.

Give me some good ol' American Muscle any day of the week and I'm one happy camper

Dammmmm, they got caught !!! I had an order in with them for my Porsche Carrera GT.... Now it looks like i need to win the Main Event to get one

Cost of Car is $480,000

JPhooligan Jul 13, 2008 6:38 pm
Well Pat...I'd be careful too giving the Italians so much money to build ya a German car, LOLOL....

Hmm.....Porsche, powered by Ferrari....I wonder how that would work out?
OntheFlops Jul 13, 2008 6:56 pm

I wouldnt buy a fake...mainly cause I dont need to drive one to get any tail.lol..but also you never know what you are getting in the long run..

And who cares what car you drive..it shouldnt be my neighbors concern anyway (who spends 30k to impress your neighbors ).., as long as it gets from point a to point b I could care less ...I know who I am and I dont need a fancy car to define me and if I did it wouldnt be a "fake" one..

for the one is a car a tool to get from A to B, for another it is hobby.....and i also dont need a car to define myself.....but ive worked hard for my car and bike it so i enjoy it (tho i cant drive it as much as i want)

Its a Passat Wagon 2.0T..... Great gas mileage, all the extras, and will hold all my tools and parts.... What do you think should i buy it.....

JPhooligan Jul 14, 2008 2:19 am
Pat....those Passats are some fine running vehicles, my Uncle has one and makes the commute from Hesperia to South Gate every day....great gas mileage to boot.

You could do a heckuva lot worse, I'd say.
