agressive players

Jul 12, 2008 6:43 pm Report Abuse

When i did the daily poker quiz today, i noticed that over 50% of the field answered the question wrong......which seems to me that the quiz master is a little behind on this one. I have a few comments about the quiz question and was wondering how other players would feel about my logic...so here goes.

First of all the players in this scenario are one, typical to any poker table right? there is always someone you would label "aggressive". I am an aggressive player myself and i agree with everyone who said all-in to this question. as the aggressive i fold to your all-in on the turn but i put you all-in on the river if you just call me there.

That being said, i read a couple of the threads from today and one guy calls this aggressive guy a maniac and says he would leave the table. I am glad when someone is aggressive at my table because usually i can lay in wait until i get a monster and hit it just right....there is alot of money to be made when you find someone loose-aggressive. anyone who plays a $1-$2 cash game or better should know how to deal with that kind of player or they are probably the fish of the group.

For those of you that play like the pros and consider everyone else a donkey, consider this.....I know how hands are sapposed to be played, and it's not hard to find the players at the table that play by the book. usually it's easier to put you on a hand and play accordingly. people that play like i do, are harder to put on a hand and are usually considered aggressive or loose.....but i do very well . i think poker is more about how you play your opponents than it is your cards most of the time, if you can't adapt your play according to who your are playing against, then..........join me at my cash game

just one point - the vast majority of poker players are losers, so the fact that 50% of the field chose one answer doesn't prove much.

im coming i agree with the call here and im overly agressive most of the time. but like he says sometimes you let your opponent make the action, and if hes super agressive hes gonna call your all in on the turn anyways even if hes just on a draw, maybe you lose 150 seeing that str8 made on the river but at least you saved 300 by not pushing all in on someone who is not gonna fold anyways. . . funny im a loosing poker player online. . .do very well live. . . but yet I answer 9 out of 10 ?'s right lol

"there is alot of money to be made when you find someone loose-aggressive"

I have to kinda disagree here. A good LAG player is very hard to take a big pot from. Real LAG play is small pot poker unless you flop a monster. With that said, you can make a lot from someone that is trying to play LAG poker and don't really understand how to do it correctly.

tomfmason i guess i agree with you..........kinda...i mean two aggressive players in a pot is at least gonna be interesting. i must meet alot of not so good LAG players....

sweetcar....i completly understand the on-line versus live thing. i do much better live. i'm sure with practice i'll be better on-line but i think i'd rather be better live. the reason for me that live is better is the tells and feel of the hand that you don't get on-line

First off, discussion of the current day's quiz is designed to be in the forum and the section designated for quiz discussion, not in the blogs. There's a link on every quiz page to 'discuss in the forum'.

Quizzy's motivation is spot on, imo. Want to know why - see my comment that will be posted in the quiz forum thread.

my blog was based on the quiz today. sooo sorry for blogging in the wrong spot.....could you post the rules that govern what i'm allowed to write about in my blog? oh yeah nevermind, it's MY blog i was aiming more for the style of play, not the hand in the quiz.

Sandman-Michael Jul 12, 2008 7:42 pm

I find a lot of players being super aggressive myself, some have that style but some don't have any other gears. I love the cash games with the I'm all in with any two card types. Like you, I can wait.

As for myself, I'm content to take the smaller pots and play it safe. I find later on it pays nicely for stealing.

Post whatever you want - it IS your blog. But since you specify it is the 'current quiz', it is a matter of courtesy to the other players, not a matter of 'blog rules'.
