AK suited?

Jul 8, 2008 6:54 am Report Abuse

Hey guys! What do you think of calling an all-in with AK suited? Justifiable no matter what? If it's narrowed down to heads up after table has folded to you? Just in general of what you guys think. I hate moving in preflop but if I'm faced with AK suited I almost always call, smart or no?

sometimes it depends on how many chips you have , compared to what they have. but if you think about it do you want to call allin with Ak suited wen somebody has aces. i saw humberto brenes lose to AA with AK hearts to havad hkan(dont kno spelling). Statistically if you have AK suited agaisnt pocket 2s your going to lose more than 50%. 10 j SUITED is actually a favorite agasint pocket 2s becuz of the draw. But no i dont think its smart if you always call an allin with AK suited. Ak can easily lose to any pocket pair and even if they dont have a pocket pair and they have 78 clubs all they have to do is pair and you miss and your done. SO realy its up to you, but you should practice folding AK , great players even fold KK wen a player has an A or AA thats a tough fold. GL

This would depend on a lot of things for me. I hate putting my whole tourney life on an unmade hand. Maybe if I watched the original raiser make this allin play numerous times with marginal hands and get lucky and I was getting tilted by that fact (LOL). Only time I would do this is if I was short stacked against large blinds and antes. of course I should note that my actual game play is subject to change when seated at the tables. I'm a much better poker player when i'm not actually playing!

Yeah, this is situation specific. Eg...1st hand in tourney - NO. down to 10xBB....

I would rather raise all in than call all in however.

aif some1 puts me in a heads up situation all in with AK, no matter what, i call. in my opinion its an underrated hand. ie-anna kornikova. the way the cards fall online, two over cards will win a pot 65-70% of the time, so if u r up against QQ JJ, u r looking good. if its aa, kk u r in touble obviously, but holding 2 of the A and K yourself, odds r with u. the majority of the time i call an all in with AK im up vs AK QQ or AQ

codimis....if youre against QQ or JJ youre not looking that good, in fact your slightly behind

as i was coming back to this page to see the comments, i was on the button with AK, had a 4x blind raise went all in and took out 2 people
Codimis Jul 8, 2008 9:37 pm
oh, i know im behind. but online i see the two over cards to a pocket pair winning about 65% of the time. thats y i say play em.

interesting that you 'see' that the overs win 65% of the time, yet there are no stats to back it up.

i wouldn't assume that your overcards are the favorites. but, unless you specifically put your opponent on AA or KK, you're going to be getting the right odds to call the all-in. if your stack can handle the risk, go for it.
