ANOTHER HELPFUL QUIZ

Jun 19, 2008 3:00 am Report Abuse

Q: When considering pot odds, when have you become "pot committed"?

A: In my opinion you are NEVER pot committed! It is never too late to fold a busted hand!

Actually, when considering pot odds, many players make the mistake of considering the $ they have already put in the pot, BUT you MUST NOT consider this... the $ in the pot is no longer yours, so pot odds only pertain the immediate bet being placed against the total pot amount.

Ya, so aren't you pot committed when the ratio of the pot to your stack is large enough that you have pot odds in pretty much any situation, like if you have 22 vs. AA pre-flop, and the pot is more than 4.5 times your stack you are pot committed.

but if you get a read that you are beat, why would you shove and lose all your chips?

anyway, pot odds are in reference to your BET, not your STACK, unless you are an all-in or fold donkey...

you could suck out.
what if you have 3 outs to hit but your odds are 100:1.
slavocash Jun 19, 2008 3:50 am
The reason that you would call even if it was 22 vs AA is because if the pot is at least 4.5 times your stack then you have pot odds to call any bet that is made, you are essentially pot committed. Because in the long run you lose 9 times for every 2 times you win, so if you win a pot of 450 twice, and lose 100 nine times you still break even, so any more than that and you make a profit on average, that is why you would call even if you knew you were beat if you had the right odds.
