i've never played in a live tourny. well, i live 70 miles from the OK border and was thinking about trying it out. it's a 50 dollar buy in.

my question is, and i realize nothing is written in stone, are people as crazy about going all in w/ rags and such in this kind of live game as freerolls and low buy-in tournys on the internet. let me know what you think please.

i try to play old school and almost all the time get my money in w/ the best hand ,,, but someone sucks out,,,it seems 75 or 80 % of the time. talking about the games i mentioned above.

thanks

take care

it really depends on the people of the area. i see people play 1$ games like its for 10k. i see people play 25$ games like its a freeroll. no matter where you go you will find people that play aggressive and put on the i dont care image. my friend is a perfect example of this. he says all the time "money is no object."

I live in Oklahoma, but in the NE corner of the state. I don't know about the casino's closer to Texas, but the $50.00 buy ins here are not like anything on line. The players are serious about their poker. You do have some that will over bet pre flop in the first few rounds when in early position. Like betting 800 chips when the big blinds are just 50. Just don't let them scare you. Let them have their fun and wait for good cards to call them. They are like the all in players on line and will be gone by the first break. Just play smart and you'll do fine.

Have fun and good luck.

live people do play more conservatively IMHO in general ,

it depends what levels you are playing too of course ,

I'm not a big fan of putting all my money in without an

extremely hard to beat hand , meaning the median winning

hand in holdem is at least 2 pair or better , so any one pair is

easy to crack , also putiing it all in on a bad board is

something I normally don't do , I will try to get them off their

draw but going all in and hoping they don't call me and luck out

is asking for trouble IMHO because people will call and yep

sometimes they will suck out , that's the nature of the game , if

it's a cash game and not a tourney it's a different strategy of

course ,anyway most people who are playing live with their

actual money on the line do play more logically than in a

freeroll online ,also online most hands are played all the way

to the river , that doesn't happen so much live because

people seem to know when to fold more live lol, I also have

this theory some people are just too embarrassed to be seen

live in person playing like they do on the internet lmaoo,

anyway hope that helps ,gl

All I can say it's much easier to all in with the click of a mouse. It's hard to physically push your chips across the felt into the middle. Unless you a great live bluffer or got the nutz that is.
