Railbirds in Las Vegas (One more time)

What an amazing experience...

I don't know where to start, so I'll start by saying that we all had a blast and the game was sooooo much fun!

It was an overwhelming experience to meet all of you and the different people who came from all over, but we all share the love of poker and that was all that mattered.

A recap of my trip...

I arrived on Saturday afternoon, then sqrltyler, loverlover and I went to see Le Reve at The Wynn. It was an amazing production and the cast and show were out of this world wonderful to watch and the story line was GREAT. There was so much going on around the theater, that our heads were turning back and forth, back and forth for the whole show so we could try to catch it all.

I was tired and had full intentions of going back to the Tuscany to catch a lil sleep. Of course, I didnt make it because I went downstairs to play Roulette and did pretty good, so I was fired up and ready to take on the town...LOL

I had about 2 hours of sleep, then went downstairs and played the 10am game hosted by Tuscany. It was a $20 rebuy and was alot of fun playing with some of the locals from the area and several vacationers. We started with 4 tables and I went out after I made a bad call with A8 suited and finished, I'm guessing, around 15th of the 40 that started. Right after that, the Railbirds began to show and we all went for breakfast.

Then it was time for the Big Game...I'll share the pictures I have with no explainations because Fankie did such a great job of updating the game in real time:

After the game, it was time for dinner and several of us went and met at Orleans and played the game they host. bbmart went the farthest and busted in 24th place of the approx 120 who had started.

I went up to get some rest, but the next thing i knew, the sun was coming up on Monday and there was just too much to do to sleep. I took a short lil nap and left to walk the block around to the Hard Rock. Had lunch and once I got back to Tuscany, Dave was up and moving and we hit the Rio with Jane as our chaperone and tour guide. This was an amazing experience as well and watching all the pros play was a time that i will always remember. They go into such a zone that even with all the commotion, they don't seem to realize there is anything other than the current hand in front of them. Manny was also playing the Shoot-Out so we passed by there to check on him and he was doing great. (I'll let him tell about his game when he gets home) I will say that he played a strong game, made it to Heads-Up and was chip leader for most of the game. He took a hard hit when HU with 66 vs AA and his 66 didnt improve. Manny, you played an awesome game and I am proud to have you as the Railbird Rep. You make us proud and I can think of no other person more deserving of the right to play the WSOP than you...Keep up the great work and be ready to blog your heart out to tell us the whole story once you get home.

Monday night was back to the Rio and Manny, Dave and I had dinner, and bbmart joined us for coffee. Jane was also there for a bit, and the meal was excellent! Except for one thing...In Manny's potatoes there was a piece of cardboard...Yes, we were eating at the Rio...So, his meal gets comped, apologies from everywhere and they even through in dessert. He was feeling a little generous and decided that we needed to have sex, so he fed me a piece of "sex cheesecake". It was delicious and by the end of that conversation we decided that if there is a such thing as cheesecake sex, this one was it...Thanks for the roll in the dessert, Manny...I'm sure Dave is just as excited that he got to watch and take the pics...LOL...OMG, that turned out be a great time.........

Sry, Manny, you knew I had to post it...LOL...I even closed my eyes for it!

So, after all this, Dave and I go to play some poker and I lose my arse pretty quickly when KK was busted by A3 suuuuuited! Yes, it happens live as well.

Then we go watch ALOT of pros playing and getting down to it in the 2-7 triple draw WSOP event and I was in awe. All I could do is stare and let Dave and Manny do all the talking. It was amazing seeing these guys on the felt! The women's event was getting close to the final table so I watched Linda Johnson (my all time fav female player), then she busted and we watched until the unofficial final table. Svetlana somebody was rocking that game and playing for the win, although i dont know how it turned out. I learned alot from watching her aggressive style of play and hopefully can bring it to the felt.

The 3 of us left the Rio and went and played some $3/$6 limit and I think Dave is the only one who cashed out more than he bought in with. I then went to lose some more at Roulette and we just hung out until we saw the sunrise once again. And this is where we come to the part that I'll say "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."

I never went to bed and this morning when I got ready to leave, I had real tears in my eyes, because I didn't want to come home. Or they could have been from sheer exhaustion...Now that I am home, I'm glad I am, but the time I spent with this amazing group of people will always be remembered...

It was so great meeting you Steph! That dessert looked even better than the German Choclate Cheesecake! Damn!

At one point at the Orleans, there were 6 railbirds in the tourney and 4 at one table! It was a blast!

It was a bit of a bumpy ride, but we made it safe and sound.

I think I left him wondering what the hell was KT thinking. Great guy, and it was NOT a dull ride back to the Rio...LOL
