California is breaking through already with 420.

I agree that the war on WEED should end, because of many reasons!

Waaaay too many people in jail for a bag of weed.

Legalize it and regulate it, like alcohol. Tax it up the wazoo, like cigarettes & alcohol. Legalization and regulation would drive down the price, and making any crime syndicates and commercial-scale growers unprofitable and still illegal. Business licenses and taxation would create a vast new reservoir of money for the government coffers. Regulation would ensure that the weed would be uncontaminated and grown in controlled environments, inspectors could be utilized for quality control. The entire hemp plant, whether smokable or not, can be used in a variety of ways and products, with virtually no waste. There is no downside to legalization. Fight the Power

Marijuana is a gateway drug. It contains small amounts of what is basically acid in it.

If you ask any addict what his first drug was he would say weed. It opens people up to the possibility of trying other things.

I know what some of you are thinking, what about alcohol? Drunks (and I am a reformed one) tend to stick to their booze. They may dabble in other things but booze always has the heart.

Marijuana on the other hand is just a stepping stone for many people who go on to do worse drugs and other things unimaginable.

I say no, weed should not be legal. Just because you can handle it, doesn't mean that everyone can.
libertytexan Jun 5, 2008 8:57 pm
Legalize and don't tax it or regulate it. Deregulate and untax alchohol and tobacco as well. Legalize all other drugs. The government has no business telling me what I can and cannot put in my body. It has no business taxing them any differently than any other product.
Onlysmokepot Jun 5, 2008 8:57 pm

Pot is the answer, but does anyone remember the question?

If it were legalized, the government stores selling it better be charging the same or less then the 30 per 1/8oz I pay currently. Also the quality better be as good or better then the kush I currently smoke. With all that I am all for legalization.

Wolfiechat1 Jun 5, 2008 8:58 pm
NO DOUBT!
bigrych Jun 5, 2008 9:00 pm
I see and understand both sides of this argument...drugs are drugs the medicinal uses of this weed should be monitored and controlled, but maybe the restrictions should be loosened. But NO, as legal as it is for ACTUAL medical conditions is the extent which this DRUG should be legalized.

" Marijuana is a gateway drug"

Hogwash

"I know what some of you are thinking, what about alcohol? Drunks (and I am a reformed one) tend to stick to their booze. They may dabble in other things but booze always has the heart."

Faulty reasoning. Most people who do drugs also drink, just like most people who do harder drugs have also done marijuana. This does not mean that drinking or smoking will make you do harder drugs. The vast majority of drinkers and pot smokers DON'T do harder drugs.

"I say no, weed should not be legal. Just because you can handle it, doesn't mean that everyone can."

And I suppose you should be the one who gets to decide what can and cannot be handled?

it should be like alcohol, taxed and regualted (like DUIs). it would keep more potheads who want to smoke in their own privacy out of jail and would stop alot of poor saps who smoke from getting a job cuz of a drug test for a harmless drug.

more people have dies from cigarettes, alcohol, and guns than weed (weed has killed ZERO) and all the others are legal. I wrote a 16 page paper in college on the subject if anyone is interested in reading it tell me.
