I have been busy in my new career as a Corrections Officer and have some interesting stories to tell. I took a relative hiatus from poker-playing (much to my dismay) for a few months, but in the past month I have since regained my composure after re-learning to exert patience and utilize reads on my opponents. I have some hand histories I would like to share with you all to illustrate some concepts for 9-player SNG play, but I want to gather them into a coherent series before I begin publishing. I still have so much to learn, but my game has vastly improved and I would like to share with you what I have learned, as well as hope to receive feedback.
On FT I am sitting on a $75 satellite token that I won after placing first in a SNG in which I used a $26 satellite token which I won placing first in a previous SNG. Honestly, I punked out on using it to qualify for a WSOP entry during the FTOPS event, because I seriously do not feel prepared to make that kind of move, (but also because I could only play in one tourney that didn't conflict with my work schedule and my main priority has been my job).
On PS I managed to take my account balance from $70 (which I was sitting on since mid-January) and turn it into just below $200 in the span of two weeks. I stuck to the bankroll management rules of Chris Ferguson and continued up the eschelons. If I did not place first, then by a means of bad luck or a result of tilting after getting home after an incident at work I either came in second or bubbled in fourth, respectively. But I always quit on the rare occassions that I lost three in a row, and went to bed knowing I could regain my composure (and seek my vengeance) in the morning, and that mental strategy has worked quite well. The result is my play has improved, I have learned to manage my tilt factor to a degree, and I have gone up in stakes. Here is my latest win from this morning:
PokerStars Tournament #90000557, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $20.00/$2.00
9 players
Total Prize Pool: $180.00
Tournament started - 2008/05/28 - 09:18:30 (ET)
Dear eisforeliza,
You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $90.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
You earned 45 Sit & Go Leader Board Points for the Neptune Division in this tournament.
For more information about our Sit & Go Leader Boards, see our website at
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/promotions/battle/
Congratulations!
Thank you for participating.
I am not really sure what these new divisions are, and hadn't noticed I was even accumulating leaderboard points until I cut and pasted this result this morning, so after work I hope to learn more about where I am in relation to others and what kind of effort I must put in to make something of it (if the promotion turns out to be worth it at all). If anyone has any brief information to share before I scour the website when I get home, then I welcome your assistance.
Anyway, after I feel I have reached a competent degree of mastery of the 9-player SNG, then I think I may branch out in 18- and 27-player SNGs, in which I've had mixed success, mostly due to patience. I do OK in 6-player SNGs when I am on top of my aggro game, but lately I have been most focused on and concerned with improving my lowball game and exerting patience, as well as taking the time to make decisions based on reads on my opponents.
I miss RB so much, and I hope everyone is in good health and with decent bankroll. Take care, and I hope to return soon to contribute to our community.

Well done,
If you are a strong player, the Battle of the Planets promotion is very worth it. However, you need to be finishing ITM about 60% of the time with at least 1/3 of the ITMs to be wins in order to be close to qualifying for the low orbit leaderboard(blocks of 20 games). You don't need to be quite as good to place in the high orbit leaderboard(blocks of 100) but obviously it is much more time intensive.
Question for you though.... why are you playing $20 SNGs with a $200 bankroll? Seems a bit high to me.
