I am a faithful user of this site, and in some ways you could say I am kinda addicted to this site....lol... I come here everyday, and have Railbirds as one of my 4 start pages, so every time I log onto the Internet, I have a window with Railbirds right there, I'm logged in and ready to go. I am also a very patient man, it is hard to get me riled up, and really slow to anger. I say all of this to give credence to this, I am about to my limit with all of the maintenance interrupting my exploring the site, it is starting to get to me, and if it is me, then I know it already has gotten some people so pissed that they don't come here as often as they might have in the past, or want to now.
I was wondering if in an effort to solve this problem, it would be possible to set aside one day, or part of a day in the near future, that Railbirds just completely shuts down, and fixes whatever all is wrong here. The tech guys should have some sort of an idea as to how long they would need, and I for one, would gladly give up a day or half a day, or whatever they need, to come back to a smooth running Railbirds, that I can enjoy, not get irate at ! A little advance notice in a blog, or a PM from the railannouncer, or infobird, would get the word out, so we all can anticipate it, and then the tech people can do whatever it is they need to do to fix this place uninterrupted..................What do you think ?

I am sooooo for it! It would suck to not be able to be on here for a day or even 1/2 of a day, but I tell ya, it would make me SUCH a happy camper if it would fix the ongoing annoyances that take place every 15 min's or so now!
If it could happen, I'd be glad to give up a day of RB's.
If thats what it takes to fix it I like it!
Great idea TC. Would rather spend a day or a week without rails than another week or even day with the site as poorly functioning as it has been.
I agree with you 110%.
I too, am addicted. It's getting extremely frustrating.....because it's so damn hard to navigate and I can't get my Railbirds "fix:" Though I want to, I am spending less and less time on the site. I don't want to b*tch and moan, I know that the powers that be are trying to get it fixed.....But come on! It's getting a little ridiculous....
I'd gladly give up the site for a day or two- If I knew I was gonna come back to a smoother operation.
Though it is good advice, it probably won't happen.
I'll keep trying to log in and remain active....but it's getting harder and harder to do.
It's a nice idea but unfortunately will not work.
Everybody and their uncle is crying 'FIX THE SERVERS' 'BUY NEW SERVERS' and such. However, the problem is NOT with the hardware . It is a database issue. Until tech actually finds the root problem, we will be experiencing server reboots because each patch applied to a database requires a restart, hence the Maintenance splash screen. And believe me, some database problems can be so very hard to find. We just have to have patience and allow them to do their thing.
go for it sounds like we need it

I gotta tell you, TC. It's my field of expertise and I'm chomping at the bit for the opportunity to help out. But I am confident that Railbirds has a fully qualified top notch team working on this (round the clock it seems with all the reboots).
They can't just go out and install a new database. Then ALL of the accounts would be lost and we have to start over from scratch. Certainly not a very pretty thought. We just need to give them breathing space.
Whatever needs to be done....geterdun. I've had it here. Everytime I do anything at all on the site I have to remember to copy it or risk having to redo my work. Twice this weekend I wrote Results blogs for our tournys and forgot to copy....two for two I had to completely redo. It may not seem like much, but it's over an hour of my time gone for no reason. That doesn't even include the PMs lost or the time spent trying to open anything. I've been patient, but it's gettin' old.
I'd better remember to copy this comment.
