Hello Birdies,
I want your guy's input on heads up play. I find many times matches heads up come down to Ace-x vs Paint-Paint. So like A7o or suited vs like KQo or suited for the match. If you are the non ace hand you are a 4 to 6 dog, or roughly 42% to 58%. So in many of these situations you aren't even money but your cards are live. The thing that gives the ace hand the advantage is that it doesn't need to improve to win. Meaning if you and your opponent don't improve by the river and you have the ace hand you win.
That being said, playing heads up is about position and aggression in my opinion. If I have a 2 to 1 chip lead on my opponent and he re-raises all in when I have KQo I'm going to call. I feel in this situation that I have to give myself an opportunity to win with live cards even though I may be a dog. If I can put my opponent away now, I have to take the shot. I am willing to take the worst of it that hand for an opportunity to win.
The question is what if you aren't ahead? What if you are dead even? First hand, heads up, even in chips and you raise with KQo and get re-raised all in. What's your call? What's the accepted right call by the pros? Give me your input on these questions and let me know how you prefer to play the Paint-Paint hands in heads up when you are ahead and behind. Keep on railin birdies
