Railbird Interviews (click to view all interviews !! )

SevenTEleven

Railbird name: SevenTEleven
Age: 20 =) lol I’m 43 =O
Gender: Male
Years Playing Poker: 27 years (started playing Stud H/L regularly with my dad at 16)
Fav. game: Probably Hold’Em, but it really does depend on how I feel xD so more or less… H.O.R.S.E.
Fav hand: J7 suited or not, it’s connected to my poker name!
Fav Poker Site: A Fool’s On Tilt. Oops! I mean Full Tilt =P
PS ID: SevenTEleven
FTP ID: Seven T Eleven

#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
I chose my Railbird.com screen name b/c of the same reasons I have chosen all my other online poker screen names (all some kind of variance of Seven T Eleven). The reason why I choose this is b/c ever since I have known my dear old grandad, now peaking an immense 94 y.o., he has never accepted the way we pronounciate numbers. He regards all numbers as numbers below the century mark, e.g. twenty, forty, etc. A famous number of his, related to my early learning of numbers and mine and his favourite numbers (7&11), is 711. Keeping in mind the last rule my grandad has commended, 711 becomes seventy-eleven =D. To add a personal note of individuality, but still favouring my grandad, I phonetically spelt seventy-eleven into Seven T Eleven x). My poker name just keeps with me so many memories that I will treasure for ever!…

#2 How would you define your style of play?
Hmm, that’s a toughy! I try not to have a specific style of play, but I will always change my style depending on player’s strategies of play. I suppose I am what the poker community describe as THE BOMB! Lol! I will play mostly LaA until I expose weaknesses and I will pounce upon this with the upmost aggression >=]!!

#3 Poker Achievements?
Many, many firsts =) lol! Starting from home, I have never lost in a home game with friends (which they find very annoying) where we play buy-ins of up to £300, winner takes all or 3:2:1, and we have even played a few ring games, I have sat in with £1k before and left with £3.5k. I have never played in any mega live tournies, such as the WSOP or the EPT, but I have been to a few local tournies and cashed in 5/7 attempts and won 2 of them! Online I have quite a few achievements and will keep it brief! The most I have won online is just over $1k in the $750k guaruntee. I entered this from a 2500FTP satellite from which I qualified from a 50FTP satellite. Meaning I used only a small amount of rake bonus to gain a huge amount of profit! I now have over $2k in my bank account from online poker and just over $200 in my FT account. OH! Btw, I have never deposited and hate to gamble online. You will usually only find me in freerolls (to my friends I am known as the Freeroll King), except where recently I have hosted my 1st private tourny and have decided to gain same practice in the real money side of poker.

#4 What brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
Well sorry to be a freeroll wh**e but I regularly check the private tourny section of FT for freerolls and as regularly as I checked I came across Railbirds.com’s freerolls =). I didn’t join until Railbirds.com until I joined a table where I found several Railbirds spamming their Railpage lol! Checked them out and was impressed so decided to join with huge anticipation xP! What keeps me here at Railbirds is a completely different reason… Firstly, the site is great! Secondly, everyone at Railbirds is great! Thirdly.. well I could go on and on but really all I can say is that everything to do with the site is great! Sorry my mistake, SUPER UBER FANTASTIC!! x)

#5 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
Dan Negreanu. As he is my favourite pro poker player and would love to play HU against a player that basically knows every card you get without being told anything about them!! He is a total LEG—END!!

#6 How have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
I have improved my game a lot just by playing a lot! I have gone from donk to shark within about 2-3 years of online poker. I have never read a poker book as I feel it will deter me from my personal approach to poker, which I think is the best way to go about playing

#7 Who are 5 players you look up to on railbirds and why? or Who do you think based on what you've seen or read, would you like to face heads up on railbirds?
Hmm… 5 players to choose from 51k+ Railbird members is far too hard to do! So I’ll choose 1 from the 51k+ members! Lol! Based on everything I have seen and read, I would love to face QuasiPro HU. I try to watch him play as much as possible as he is great to watch as he plays varied types of poker and I love the way he can win big tournies with his favourite hand which is the worst hand lol!!

#8 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games?
In tournaments I will play more hands than in cash games to gain information of the other players as so I can knock ‘em out and win! Whereas in cash games I will only play premium, and slightly below, hands, scrutinising the other players play so I can widen the range of hands I will play. Meaning I can gain more of their monieeeesss!!

#9 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
Gambling =S. I know it sounds weird but yeah! When playing I know how to work out odds and percentages but will often ignore them and base my strategy around luck. Also, if I don’t cash in a SNG or S/MTT I will often up the ante and play a HU to regain an even status, i.e. if I don’t cash in a $1 tourny I will play a $2 HU to reclaim my original BR.

#10 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online poker player gives ?
There are plenty. One I see a lot is the check-call, check-call, check-call, run down of timer with a pot bet. This puts you in the situation that your opponent has rivered a straight/flush (more or less of the time they do this), but has more often than not has a busted draw and is trying to steal the pot with a big over-bet compared to the preflop, flop and turn bets… So put them ALL-IN!! And take down that hand! Ship ‘em on over! =)

#11 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?

A mega amount. Everyone’s blogs are so beneficial for everyone. All the tournaments hosted by Railbirds.com or Railbirds themselves prove very challenging and playing the Railbird family aspires you to ensure that you play your best and WIN!

#12 Best Moment in a trny ?

I was doing so well in a FT $100 Omaha freeroll, sitting with 1.2m chips, and I fell a bloody sleep. Woke up about 2 hours later to find myself HU with 700k chips and went onto win the whole damn thing! $15 of total bliss x)))))))))!!!

#13 Most recent trny win?: (non railbird trny)

poker10000.com freeroll, I came 1st and won a decent $6. Coincidentially, a fellow Railbird came 2nd =O.

#14 Who introduced you to poker ?

My dad =)! I used to play HU Stud H/L with him all the time. Eventually we moved into the Hold’Em era and started playing a lot with other family members. A great memory of mine was attending my dad to a local pubs poker/darts tourny. My dad won both!! He destroyed the field in both and was on firreeee! Actually, someone decided to ignite the bench outside the pub! Good times…

#15 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com?

Not as well as Railbirds are so much better at playing. In normal freerolls I will sit out for an hour, hoping to dodge blinds, as most donks will try to double up 45 times and end up getting knocked out. In Railbird freerolls, I will sit out for 20-30mins as play lasts longer b/c of the more decent players. Also, it’s harder to gain quantities of chips to ensure reaching the money but at least in Railbird freerolls more ITM places are rewarded TG! Haven’t done too well so far this year in the Railbird freerolls but I am hoping to improve my status! Really would like to qualify for the reward freerolls this year =D!

#16 If their wasn't Poker, what would you be doing?

Crying =’(…
