Chip and a Chair

Apr 9, 2008 12:16 am Report Abuse

Last night PS wasn't treating me nice so I went to FT and jumped into the $1 rebuy tourney at 22:35 EST.

I normally don't play the tourneys on FT and most of the time rather play PS tourneys because there are more people in PS tourneys and the prize pools are much bigger.

Well i get in this rebuy tourney and things weren't going so great and I busted out once in the 1st hour and did a double rebuy. At first break I only had like 5000 in chips and i did the add on for another 2000 in chips. so I started the 2nd hr with 7000 in chips.

467 people started in this tourney and the money didn't start till 45th place.

When we got down near the bubble I was way in the back sitting right around 40th place. I was folding all my hands in hope to get back the $5 I had invested. I had some big stacks at my table who were stealing the Blinds. The guy to my left was the worst of the big stacks and there was nothing I could do but fold my way to the money.

When the bubble popped 2 people went out at the same time, leaving me in 42nd place with 9000 in chips. blinds were at 1600 and I was in big trouble.

The Poker Gods must have been there for me because the 1st hand I got after the bubble popped was A K, and the only person left in the tourney with a smaller stack then me was sitting to my right, went all in before me. So I pushed all in and held my breath.

Well the big stack to my left pushed all in and so did another big stack. Both of the big stacks had a K, one with K J and the other K Q.

My A hit the flop and they were all drawling dead. I now had like 45,000 in chips.

The very next hand I got pocket 4's. I limped into the pot and sure enough the big stack to my left raised the pot to like 8,000. It was folded around to me and see this guy steal pots the way he was I said ***** it and went over the top and went all in.

Of course the big stack called. He had some crap a face card with a 3. well his card didn't hit and now I had just over 100,000 in chips.

The next hand I was BB and got A K again. Once again the big stack raised the pot. before it got back around to me another short stack pushed all in. So I took a chance and pushed all in myself. Big stack folded and short stack had something like A 8.

My K hit the flop and I took another pot and was sitting at 165,000 in chips.

In 3 hands I moved from dead last to 6th place. Going from 9,000 in chips to 165,000 in chips.

Well the game went on and I found myself in trouble before the final table. I was sitting in 13th place out of 14. I was able to hang in there and made the final table short stacked.

I was up and down a few times at the final table but I walked away with 6th place and $80.

Sometimes all you need is a chip and a chair and no matter how short stacked you are, there is still a chance to come back and make the final table.

Nice work Cheech. I am not surprised that you cashed. Well done, my friend.

Gosh, you were lucky with pocket 4. I limp a bet preflop towards the end of a tourney and then someone goes all in and another player and I invariably fold. Last night I did and a four flopped. And they both had high cards and nothing matched. I think A K high took the pot.

Well done cheech. WTG. And yes, I take comfort with the expression of "a chip n a chair"

WTG At least you ran good enough there long enough for a nice payout.Like you last night couldn't get the hands or the hands to hold in the ps tourney last night. Very nice on making it to the final table.
