ONLINE POKER IS NOT RIGGED!!!

Mar 30, 2008 10:57 pm Report Abuse

OK Folks I have come to the conclusion that Online Poker IS NOT RIGGED!

I think that everyone (including myself) at some point has had the idea in the back of their head that online poker is rigged or favors one player vs. another. Any notion that I may have had regarding the aforementioned has been smashed.

I haven't play a whole lot of live games but while we were in Vegas for 4 days we did nothing but play poker. All day and all night poker, poker and more poker. I saw so many bad beats, coolers, suck outs, donkeys, etc. Exactly the same as online. Have you ever notice that when you decide to go all in with KK it seems like quite a few times that someone else has AA? Well I saw that 4 times. As a matter of fact the only time I went all in pre-flop was on day 3, I sat at a $1-$2 No Limit Cash Table and my 3rd hand was AA. I raise it up to $10 this guy re-raises to $30, I re-raise to $50, he goes all in and I call. AA vs. KK and I spike an A on the turn to seal the deal.

I saw AA cracked so many times it wasn't even funny, I cracked them twice myself, once by hitting a full house and another by hitting a set of Ks. And Big Slick is just as overrated live as it is online...I STILL HATE IT! As many times as I saw it played it only held up a few times.

I flopped the A high nut straight, this guy pushed all in and of course I have to call. He shows a set of Js and turns a K for a full house.

Tourney: Blinds 200-400, UTG limped in (he has just a few more chips than me), everyone else folds, I have A 5 off from just right of the button, I limp in, the button folds, SB calls, BB checks. The Flop, A, 4, 5 ( I hit top 2). SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, I bet 400, SB fold, BB folds, UTG calls. The turn brings a 6, UTG checks, I bet 800, UTG calls. He really has me thinking now. The River brings a 3. UTG Checks I fire another 800, UTG re-raises putting me all in for my last 1000, if feel committed so I call and he shows 9 2 suited. WTG 9 2 suited from under the gun and he stayed in there with me firing away hoping for a 3 and he hits it on the river...WTF? His wife was sitting right next to him and she even gave him a disgusted look.

Cash Table: I'm not in this hand.... Player A holds 88, flop comes 8, 6, 6. WHAT A FLOP! Player A and Player B go back and forth through the flop turn and river. The river is a 9 and both player end up all in. Player B shows pocket 9s. Player A flops a full house and player B coolers him with a bigger full house.

Cash Table: I have A 8 suited, the flop comes A, A, 10 I fire away and get one caller. The turn comes 6. I fire again and he calls. The river comes an 8 I fire again and he goes all in. I call and he shows pocket 5s....LMFAO

There are so many more examples of these bad beats, coolers, donks, etc that I saw in 4 short days. I could go on for hours with the hands and plays that I saw. I am now a true believer in the Random Number Generators used by the Online Poker Sites. They are just as random as a live dealer.

There are a few more example our Vegas Vacation Blog

Then how come when i go in with the best hand it never holds up......
tripps747 Mar 30, 2008 11:18 pm
yep bad beats happen every where ive only played a little bit live and yeah didnt do to well play mostly online i would say online is rigged more for action then towards a certain player though. for instance 10 10 vs q q 10 guy gets set and they bet down to the river for the q guy to hit str8 just my opion though

I have been saying this for a long time. Thank you for posting this.

You are exactly right. I see the same stuff, all the time ! I think the only major difference between online and live action, besides physical tells, is that the random number generator shuffles continouisly, whereas the dealer only shuffles before he deals. I don't think this makes a signifiant amount of difference, although there is room for argument that the hand could have came out differently, if the cards hand not been shuffled during the hand.

.......play on ......Tc...........

What about big stack verses small stack? Seems like the big stack always has the ( good hands) compared to the small stack getting nothing.????
mrtrc266 Mar 30, 2008 11:42 pm
Tigerlil, I saw that plenty too. Once that stick out is short stack went all in with A 10 and Big Stack called with J 2 off and hit a J

I'm not worried about rigged sites. I am worried about security at the sites tho. One thing I want to know: Of all the hands you saw, how many times did the same 3 cards flop ie 3 3 3? There are quirks in the online RNGs that don't happen live, or at least not nearly as often. BTW, alot of your examples aren't bad beats per se but good bad hands. AA vs. KK isn't a bad beat in my opinion because all the money is going in the middle most of the time. It's just unlucky for whoever loses. I think most people who complain about bad beats is when you got AA raise big pre and the flop comes A 5 9, rainbow, you go all in and guy calls with K 4 of hearts and hits runner runner flush or straight. Those are the kinds of hands you won't see called very often live and win.

I totaly agree with you Troy. I have played quite a bit of live poker and ahave seen all the things you mentioned and then some. The one major thing I fine in live poker vs online is that onling I can play in my robe and don't have to worry about my poker face!

Lol thanks for the insights to real life poker-------------------------and goodluck at the tables online or brick n mortar
mrtrc266 Mar 31, 2008 12:12 am

@ larry I did see AAA flop, 999 flop and 2222 flop. I also saw a 5 diamonds hit the board and nobody had one in their hand 4 way split. And I did see a couple of runner runner beats too.

@ Jenn, LOL I saw some great poker faces too.

idaho3fan Mar 31, 2008 12:19 am

OH GREAT!!

NOW LIVE POKER IS RIGGED TOO????

J/K, great blog, have seen a lot of these same hands go down the same way,

i will say that the "comments" by the live players on the bad beats was probably a lot better than the "comments" by the on line players, seems like i have been seeing some horrible behaviour from players on line lately,

mrtrc266 Mar 31, 2008 12:24 am
@ Idaho, you're absolutely right not one time did someone make a distastful remark about a play. Even when that guy played his 9-2 and rivered his straight, I didn't say "nice hand" but I did say "good game and good luck everyone." I'm sure he heard about it from his wife later though....LOL
mrtrc266 Mar 31, 2008 12:27 am
Another thing too...Do you ever notice that a lot of times when you fold pre-flop you woulda flopped a MONSTER? That happens all the time!
idaho3fan Mar 31, 2008 12:31 am

MR T,

i agree on the flopping monsters on hands i have folded, online as well as live, but most times they are not hands that should have been played from any position at any cost, lol, well that is my experience anyways,

and amazing to me is the people screaming it is rigged and STILL playing?

mrtrc266 Mar 31, 2008 12:34 am
@ Idaho, that exactly what I mean..folding hand that have no right being played a lot of time flop monsters...lol

Online poker is indeed rigged!!! For profit that is. Green Gold. But, then again so is every single poker room in the world. It's called the rake. Online or at a regular casino. Get used to it people. Winning in poker is not easy. Blow some steam if you must, but to win in poker is a real hard thing to do. So, be patient and try to learn something new everyday. In this way you can position yourself in the top 5-10% of players. When this happens you will win more often than you will lose.
Slickpete23 Mar 31, 2008 12:41 am
you are definetely right, i learned to play poker on live games, then i was introduced to online poker!! th main difference is that u play more hands an hour on line because it is way faster; also people dont appreciate th value pf their money online as they would do on live poker, so that makes them do some crazy calls! but as bad beats , is all th same, it just seems to happen more often on line, but u got to remember u r playing more hands an hour that on a live tourney; so basically it is just an illusion!! good blog buddy, btw i missed ya bro, if u were a female , i think i would ask u out!! j/k bro, hav a good day!!
