Lucky - Oh Yeah!

Mar 29, 2008 2:20 am Report Abuse

While I had some bad luck last night, I'm not sure anyone is owed the kind of luck I had earlier today.

I'm playing a $15+1 turbo STT on Pokerstars, when this hand comes up. The blinds have gotten to 100/200 which gave me a little less than 6m; I was sitting in 4th of the remaining six players.

Action folds to me on the button, where I have 75o. Seeing as the two players behind me have folded to every steal attempt all game, I decide to go for it and push all-in. The small blind insta-calls then there is a long long wait while the big blind makes up her mind.

Just when I thought I was going to go crazy waiting for the bad news, the big blind folds. The cards flip over, and the small blind has 32o. As he later pointed out, he had checked "call any" instead of "fold" on the advance action.

Not only did his oops double me up (which let me coast into the money), but it may have saved me from elimination; never did find out what the big blind had, but it almost certainly had me beat, and considering she seemed to be considering calling two all-in players, it seems quite likely she would have called just one.

As for the poor guy who had checked the wrong box, he was crippled by it, but battled back, only to go out on the bubble.
