WPT S6 Premier - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

It was great seeing season six finally kick off, and over all I thought it was a great start. Though in my dream version of that episode gigabet would have been heads up against Phil Ivey in the end, I wasn't disappointed with the action. But action aside, here's the things I liked, disliked and hated in the new season.

The Good

• The Commentary - I have always thought that Mike and Vince give the strongest commentary in tv poker, but in season 5 it felt like broadcasts were just filled with them constantly repeating phrases they'd said before; I didn't feel that last night, and hope the freshness continues.
• The Graphics: I liked some of the new things they are doing with the on screen graphics; things like the name turning green when they won a hand were great additions. Though I wish they had used the "chip meter" more than once.

The Bad

• The Font Size: although I like the things they did with the on screen graphics, I felt they were too big, at time crowding the players.
• The Chip Count: WPT has always referred to players by their first name, and did so last night, except when showing the chip count. When they showed the chip count they did first initial, last name which made it less obvious who was who especially early in the episode.

The Ugly

Oh my gosh, could they have found a worse hostess? And how is it that every new hostess raises my opinion of the previous? I had thought Sabrina was the bottom of the barrel, but at least she was eye candy and her voice didn't grate on me; I am not sure if it was her pacing or what but something about Layla was just annoying the heck out of me. Here's hoping that season 7 sees the fifth hostess in as many years.
