#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
Funny - I have a small consulting company I have had for years. My friends and close family called me JB for a nickname forever - so I called my company JB Enterprises. Tried to use that as my name on email and it got cut off to Jbenter - it just stuck. Then when I signed up on Poker Stars - I misspelled it to jbeter and they wouldn't let me change it. It was all just a comedy of errors all the way around.
#2 How would you define your style of play?
Patient/ semi-aggresive
#3 Poker Achievements?
Cashed in several large live tournaments in Las Vegas, Mississippi, Louisianna, and Oklahoma - best wins - Bally's Open 4th place, Scotty Nguyen Challenge cashed, National APL open - 1st place - also won or placed in top 3 in large (over 200 person) tournaments online
Fulltilt and Doyle's Room.
#4 what brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
I love anything poker. I found this site and enjoyed it, then I got to know some of the people-joined the Lizzard Clan and I was hooked. The people keep me coming back. It sets this site off from so many others. Great freerolls, great interaction, great support, and just plain good folks.
#5 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
I love to challenge myself. Any top pro would be a great experience. For more of a fun interaction - HU against Daniel Negraneu or Sammy Farha would be exciting. For a serious, serious match - Chris Ferguson.
#6 how have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
I try to improve my game continuously. I think playing as much live as I can has helped. Especially in the larger tournaments. I also read books - especially SuperSystem I and II, Dan Harrington, and many others. Any educational materials on poker is a plus to your game. I feel that you never learn enough - just keep going to get better and practice, practice, practice.
#7 Who are 5 players you look up to on railbirds and why? or Who do you think based on what you've seen or read, would you like to face heads up on railbirds?
There are way more than 5 on here that I think are super. I have really enjoyed my interaction with so many. I would play anyone heads up and I feel quite sure it would be great.
#8 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games?
Cash games are all about patience and never putting all your chips at risk unnecessarily. In tournaments - you don't have that luxury. Quiet aggression in tournaments is so needed at the early stages with much harder aggression needed at the end. You have to accumulate chips to last out the blinds. Cash games are all about picking your spots and playing much smarter.
#9 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
I need to be much more aggresive in hold'em. I am so much better at being aggresive in Stud, Razz and Stud 8. I need to pick it up a notch in Hold'em
10 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online poker player gives ?
Speed, position, sometimes name.
#11 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
Teaching me to be more aggresive.
#12 Best Moment in a trny ?
Winning the APL Open against the California guy who was the favorite. I was the quiet horse at the table until suddenly they woke up and realized I had a ton of chips - oops too late. It was a sweet victory.
#13 Most recent trny win?: (non railbird trny)
H.O.R.S.E. tournament on Fulltilt.
#14 Who intrduced you to poker ?
My parents when I was very young.
#15 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com?
Patience pays off.
#16 If their wasn't Poker, what would you be doing?
Cometitive Spades or Backgammon.
