FTP ID: dimplesx
#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
Well I used to be known as dimplesx before I really got into poker online. Once I started playing online poker I wanted a more "pokery" name LOL. So, I am a chick...so I picked PokerChix. I wanted the players to know it was a female that was taking all their moolah!!
#2 How would you define your style of play?
My online game has loosened up a bit as I was playing like I would play on a live table, which was Tight, Aggressive. But you can not play like that online, or atleast I couldn't so right now my style is Neutral, Aggressive.
#3 Poker Achievements?
Live-$53K, won a rather large tournament in Tunica, Mississippi. Online-my largest win has been a little over $1k in a tournament on
Full Tilt last year.
#4 what brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
I was looking for a blog site to blog about my live poker fiascos (hahaha) because I thought it would make a good book for people that wanted to start playing poker for a living...give them a chance to see the reality side of actually doing this as your only income.
I found Railbirds during that search, signed up, put up a blog and the next thing I know people were REALLY READING my adventures and enjoying them!!! I was totally surprised!
Because of the great group of poker players on this site and the fact THEY CAN PLAY POKER!! is what keeps me here. You will not find better poker players or a better group people online than you will at Railbirds.
#5 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why? LOL...Scotty Nguyen has been a mentor for me for the last 3 years. I have learned what to do and not what to do from this man, but we have never played Heads-Up. We have played tournaments together and I usually stay out of his way, but it would be nice to sit down with him and challenge him HU's. I just have to not let him get in my head like he does...once he does that I am a goner.
#6 how have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
A lot of people know what my poker bible was for my live action when I started out. That book is Small Stakes Hold'em. I still go back to this book just to bring me back on course when I see myself trying to get in over my head.
The only other way I improved my game was the many hours of live action that I have played over the last 5 years. When you sit at a table 8-20 hours sometimes daily, you will be amazed at how fast you will pick up on things.
Also, when you are doing this as a living, you get smart real quick because if you don't....you sleep in your car and eat out of cans.
#7 Who are 5 players you look up to on railbirds and why? or Who do you think based on what you've seen or read, would you like to face heads up on railbirds?
I can't really name 5 people because there are so many that have influenced my online game here on Railbirds.
Every person on this site I look up to because each one of them have taught me something believe it or not. I am not saying this to blow this question off....But you look at the ones that are just learning this game, you watch them read and learn from all the blogs this site has to offer and you see how they improve in just a matter of weeks...I look up to those people.
Then you look at the people that have years of experience under their belt and the information they put out there in their blogs by giving advice and sharing their knowledge. I look up to those people because they are sharing this with all us to help us get better.
So trying to name 5..shoot I can't do it. Now Heads Up...hrmmm....RailJoe, Seymour Bluffs, Quasi and my favorite of all times..HHTB!!!
#8 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games? Oh man, big difference in games for me. I find myself more aggressive in Tournaments. Of course this is due to the Blind Levels increasing and the time restraints.
Cash games..love them. I can be more relaxed because I am under no restraints and can be a lot more picky about what I play and how I can play it.
#9 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
A weakness that I had in my online game was trying to play like I do live...so I fixed that real quick. Then after I downloaded my favorite tool I found all kinds of weaknesses in my online game which included playing cards out of position.
You know how we all have a "favorite hand"....well a lot of my favorite hands are suited connectors (I am a live limit player...suited connectors are golden on a limit table) and playing those online out of position you will basically just bleed your chips into the pot and never hit. So I had to close that hole up pretty fast to continue playing online.
#10 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online poker player gives ? This is a tricky question because the "typical tells" that you may think an online player is giving off...is a tell they know about and are using it to their advantage.
There has been so much publication about "online tells", trusting tells online can get you in trouble.
The only true tell I try to find from an online poker player is their betting patterns.
If you are paying attention you can pick up on their betting pattern and put them on hands easier then trying to calculated if they checked or bet a hand fast or slow...are they thinking? did they call so fast because they had a hand? Hell who knows when playing online...but if you notice their betting pattern and know they push when they miss their flush...then I can put a read on them
#11 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
RB has taught me to be a bit more aggressive in my online game. If you read a lot of the blogs these players put up, you will see they go straight for the juggler...my online game was very passive before I came here, but reading the blogs and trying some different techniques I have read here...I learned how to go for the juggler online
#12 Best Moment in a trny ? My best moment in any tourney for me is sitting on a MONSTER hand and you have 3-4 people in the pot betting into me. EVERYONE has a good piece of the pot but I have the nuts! Then on the river drowning them all!! hee,hee
#13 Most recent trny win?: Most recent would just be winning some 9 Man SNG's with a $20 buyin. I like taking those SNG's down because they are quick with a decent payout. Because of work I have not been able to play in any MTT's lately...but hopefully in a few weeks I can get back to my normal play.
#14 Who intrduced you to poker ? My daddy
#15 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com? It doesn't HAHAHA...freerolls are freerolls...until after about the 5-6 break. I don't play to many freerolls because it does require so much patience for such a little payout. I have gotten lucky and won a few freerolls and then built my bankroll up from there..Iron Duke is an example of that....but for the most part...if I make it past the 4-5 break..then I get serious.
#16 If their wasn't Poker, what would you be doing? I would probably be a hooker in Vegas doing crack cocaine HAHAHAHA...thank god for poker!!!
