Okay here is a question I have pondered many times. It's time to get some advice. Ace Rag (meaning any ace without a k.q.j or 10) is an auto fold for me. In the course of a tournament I fold ace rag more than any other hand. The reason why is because my lose percentage on it is enormous. Q,J is a playable hand to me, but ace 7 is just asking to get your chips taken. I see people play ace rag aggressively, real aggressively all in preflop aggressive. And win. The thing that pisses me off the most ever in a tourney is to see Ace, 6 beat KK on an all in preflop. As I said ace rag is an auto fold for me unless I'm in the SB or on the Button if I'm in these positions I make a small raise if I'm called I freak out and check it down or fold the first chance I get. What I want to know is am I playing to tight.

no ur not folding the ace rag is a good decision
usually ull flop a-10-5 holding a-3
only to find the bb holding a9 maybe even a-10
i fold that hand before i fold 7-8 suited
gl anyways ..
railbirds for the win
Fellaman!
i play the same way lora...
i wonder myself if i'm too tight...i see lots of 'geniuses' win with A rag...but whenever i try it i get busted...

Amber I consider you won of the top 10 best players on this site. Thank you for your advice. I just hate it the most because I cannot fold it post flop knowing darn well I'm calling off chips into a losing hand hoping I hit whatever other card I have to make aces up and by the time it is the river I have so much invested I cannot lay it down
Again ty
You may wish to look at these postings by Bluesboy47: How to Play A-X and Golden Rules of Naked Aces. If you find them helpful - and they should be - look at some of the other great blogs he has about playing better poker.
Poker. That's the name of the game, and still remains the focus of this site (err ... I think). Good luck; keep it fun - play well & profit.
You should play it definitely according to where you are and who you are up against. If you're in late position, and you have A7, then raise and try to win the pot right there. If you get called and the flop comes 2-5-6, then you can bet again and take the pot.
Still, raising UTG with A7 or A8 will cost you a LOT of money...
I'm also an A,rag folder in 'most' cases. When a hand plays to showdown that I folded, it is too often a loser if I had played.
I do play them in late position on a limp-in call or maybe a min-raise call, but seldom higher than that. THAT's why they call it Ace, RAG, imo !!
