Mar 6, 2008 3:19 pm Report Abuse

i lack the discipline to quit playing when i should. last night, i came in first in 5.00 18 man sng. but this morning, i didnt place in money in first 3 games. because of a deal i made with Snowy, i quit playing for real money till much later today. i probably still have a bankroll because of what She has taught me.

well my dear no one likes to lose, but sometimes when you in a bad run you have to enough and let that pretty little brain of recharge for awhile, sad to say this but when i am playing omaha i can't quit as soon as i should it is just something we all have to learn, and being able to have a friend to help you is always a good thing, that is what makes this place so wonderful is all the great people here willing to help others, luvs ya always dear

Discipline of cards and especially Bank Roll is key to success! You have done correctly by stopping when the losing streak is maybe starting to irritate you.

I go play low limit Razz or Horse as a "change up". I've even gone back and blasted my Play Chip stack for a few hours just to get back into the "kool" mindset that brings good results.

Failing all that I ....

Keep on truckin'...but pull over now and again to rest up!

We all go through the same thing, its just a matter of setting a goal each day at the tables. If things aren't going well, take a break, and think about your game. Its good to get away from poker, and regain your positive mind set.Just don't get to down on yourself.Snowy has given you some good advice, remember to thank him/her for that.

I think it is hard for anyone to walk away on a lose. If I am playing money games and I don't money 3 times in a row I walk away and don't play for several hours. I have over time taught myself to do this or I would likely lose my bank roll. My husband on the other hand hates to walk away when he is losing. It's hard to walk away but sometimes you just have to. Your very lucky to have Snowy to give you such good advice hun. Good luck when you go back to the tables. Your friend AceKickerCA

It is good that you have a friend like Snowy - it is also good that you recognize and understand that you have a problem - whether it be an individual, a corporation, or even a poker-site, the first step to solving difficulties is identifying them.

Discipline and patience at the poker tables does you no good if you do not apply that same discipline to your BankRoll.

"You cannot survive without that intangible quality we call heart. The mark of a top player is not how much he wins when he is winning but how he handles his losses. If you win for thirty days in a row, that makes no difference if on the thirty-first you have a bad night, go crazy, and throw it all away." -- Bobby Baldwin

I think you are on the way to controlling the hardest opponent you'll ever face - yourself - and with this new-found "self-discipline" you should, ultimately, be able to enjoy more poker with good people like Snowy, thanks to an increasing BankRoll.

Good luck; keep it fun - play well & profit.

Sapphos you are a great player sweetheart , your worst enemy is yourself. and that is why we made the deal. The thing you need most is a lot of disapline and a bit more patientience ....... You seen what patience did for you the other night. You played patiently and didnt chase and you came back to win the sng........... Never ever say die when sitting at the poker table because you know that you can come back from being low chips to winning the game. *smiles* keep it up girlie and your bank roll will be well up there

Been there, hun! Too often I guess... lol
Otherwise I would have a decent BR...

You should do what Snowy and the others said, it's a good advice.
Patience is everything. And don't try to force things, because that's the best way to erase even the biggest bankrolls. I know that...

Congrats on your win anyway! Great job!

Luvs ya
