I have been a race fan all my life, almost any kind of racing is fun to watch for me. I did some drag racing in the Camaros I owned when I was younger, and always had fun doing it. The Terre Haute Action Track was a favorite place of mine for many years to go watch races and I first saw Tony Stewart drive there several years before he went to NASCAR. He was the most awsome driver I ever saw in my life, winning almost every race he competed in at that dirt track.
Here is my problem, I have been a Stewart fan since he went to NASCAR, and still believe that he is the best driver I have ever saw, however I do not like Toyota ! Joe Gibbs Racing has chose to move to Toyota this year and I am having trouble with my decision if I can support this change, or not. I have always been an American Made kind of guy and try to buy all I can from American suppliers, and do not like spending my money on foriegn made articles of any sort, if I don't have to.
How can I support my driver if I don't like the type of car he is driving this year. Does anybody else have any thoughts on this matter that might help me? I like several other drivers, but will still believe Tony is the best, so how can I find a way around this problem, or am I going to just have to quit watching NASCAR and find something better to do on Sunday afternoon? Any thoughts on this will be appreciated, as I just don't know what to do, and that is unusual for me !
..............play on ........Tc.............

used to have this problem in the sixties when your driver went from chevy to ford or dodge. I think i went with the driver, simply because everything else seemed like an owner decision and always thot they were in it just for the money. good example would be bill elliott, everybody loved him but hated fords....................go figure..................dj
ps i drive a pontiac gran prix on 3/8's mile dirt high bank oval and couldn't care less who made it as long as it runs...............lol
if you are wanting to support american-made in that you want to support an american company, backed by US Dollars and american shareholders, then yes, going with major US companies could be doing that, though you'd be hard pressed to find many things these days that are manufactured by americans, in america, using american parts.
japanese car companies build their cars in america as far as i know. toyota, mitsubishi, honda, etc., they all have plants in the usa and i doubt their methods for acquiring parts and putting them together are any different than ford or chevvy or anything else.
anyway, just a thought.
i'd say go with the driver, as someone else said, they are the ones who win the race. sure, the car plays a big role, as even the best driver couldn't win without a car that can handle the race, however it is just their tool, and you shouldn't let management decisions made above your favorite driver's head dictate whether or not you will support them.
my 2 cents.
I wonder how many Americans own stock in Toyota. What goes around comes around.
Stick with your driver. With the cars set up the way they are, most of the sport lies in the hands of the driver and crew.
well finally a topic i can converse on and sound like I might know what Im talking about ROFL
NASCAR is going to the dogs!!!! But I love it and i will always love it. As for Toyota getting into the mix whats the big deal? I will never pull for them nor will I drive one. That said you should still pull for you man (even if i would not walk across the street to pee on him if he was on fire) Thats what NASCAR fans do. All the cars and as far as I can tell most of the parts are USA made. All bodys are made inhouse and most engines are made by a few teams and the rest of the parts are mostly made here. The trannies and rear ends are made right down the road from where I live and alot of the sticker "paint" jobs are made accros the street from where I work here in central North Carolina. A Toyota TRD shop is right down the road so atleast the engines are assimbled here cant tell you if the blocks and heads are made here though.
NASCAR is loosing its roots we are now racing a Busch race in Mexico and even a Busch race (sorry hard to call it Nation Wide) in Canada. It has gone from good ol'e boys running shine to million dollar boys that buy their way in. There are still some good people in racing and I guess i cant stand what it has become, its more about the money now than the racing. Atleast you can still get close to most of the drivers but Im not sure how much longer thats going to be the case.
Good luck with your choices LOL
There is nothing wrong in supporting your own country. The move to Toyota is understandable. Toyota has the most reliable engine. The car industry will be eventually 5 players (toyata will be one of them).
To help you choose: If NASCAR gives so much joy to Americans, then the whole thing is American made. So it does not matter. If American Made is more important to you then watch in your house and look how much is non Americam Made (lets start with the medicine box) .
Grow up
I'm sure you buy things everyday that are not made in America.....it's almost impossible not too.
I too am a fan of Tony and NASCAR. I am sooooo looking forward to tomorrow's race I could care less what he is driving. I'm just excited the season is finally starting again.
Sunday's just aren't the same without beer, wings and NASCAR!
Boogity Boogity Boogity, LET'S GO RACING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stewart is great, Jr. is great, Gordon deserves respect. I am a lifetime fan, and frowned when Toy(ota) came onboard, but my cousin makes a ton of money building them, yes, RIGHT HERE IN THE USA, so all that being said....
GO JUAN PABLO!!!!!!
Can't wait 'till next week, the 500, so I suppose I will be glued to the screen tonite!
Now.. something to also remember is that Toyota, Nissan, and several other "foriegn" cars are actually made right here in the US so they are infact "American" made. Sure not all the money stays here, but that's true with a lot of other companies too.
Just something to think about.
I'm definatly looking forward to the start of the season... I can see it's already started a little bumping for a few.
