Online Bad Beats

Jan 28, 2008 8:08 pm Report Abuse

I have been playing poker now for about 10 yrs. From nickel, dime, quarter to cash games in casino's as well as tornys. But when it comes to online poker i get bad beats like never before. Should my stratigey change or perhaps not just play online at all. Any answers for me would be greatly appreciated and I will be looking forward to reading what you all say. I need to figure something out because I mostly go in with the best hand even with 2 callers but almost always get out drawn. I guess i'm just frustrated with getting beat please reply...........obanon

Maybe you are see more bad beats because you are getting dealt WAY more hands than a live game. idk, but this is the only reason i can think of.

i am SO sick of people saying its the more hands per hour thing...that is total BS brainwashed into the minds by all poker sites to keep players coming back.

Draws hit 10x as more online than they do in live poker because thats how big hands are set up..by putting a made hand against a draw and letting the draw hit. This makes rake and also speeds up tournaments that already have a blind structure forcing players to make big bets and call a lot of their stack away. This is the only way to maximize profit for online companies.

So, from seeing more hands per hour players are inclined to see more draws and play more pots because that's the way the nature of online poker is.

drawshit more online because people play looser than most live players, therefore more hands are hit. when you see more flops you hit more hands. im sick of idiots whining when they call a blind with crap make a hand and get out drawn or try to slow play and let the blinds get free looks

there is no illusion.Bad beats and incredible suckouts are all part of poker but online the software takes it to a new level.Recently i have come to terms with internet play.I will never quit my day job no matter how good i become at poker.Everyone seems to defend the software when they are winning and accuse them of rigging when they are losing. Now I have played over a thousand tourneys on stars and over a half a million hands on bendoverstars.fulltiltawhirl and many other sites.I have logged over 4000 preflop all ins heads up on my self and just as many on other tables and the % always slant toward the dog.It never stops and it won't stop. The good players that should make a few bucks break even .the great players make less and the donks lose less and stay around longer, meanwhile the rakomatic keeps churnin and churnin. Now just think if the cards broke even or were slanted toward the better player all these sites would dry up and you would have to get dressed ,drive to your casino card room wait for a seat and endure a bunch of abuse and play tourneys around their schedule not yours so take internet poker for what it is and understand that the fish have to eat and reproduce to keep the poker pond nice and heathy.Read my blog "the genius of internet poker" and see if you get some insite on that. It's tuff cause you know in your heart and your mind u are better than your results online. If you use your points fpp's wisely and take advantage of thses great promotions and freerolls that pokerstars and fulltilt have + the bonus stuff you can more than make up for the extra bad beat tax you incure at the virtual felt.

P.S your are not alone on this thing but if you want to enjoy poker on the net you have to deal with it and accept it for what it is.

I agree it's got a lot to do with who plays online poker. People don't care if they lose a couple bucks in an online game so they play extremely loose. It seems they hit more because they play foolish cards. I bet if you looked at their overall stats, most would suk. I play tight and seem to do rather well in the cash games.

I think randoman's comments were very true. I also think ppl do tend to play a lot looser online then in person. I havent quit online poker, but I sure am frustrated with it. Yesterday I didn't win a single sng on stars and everytime I was beat by a bad call on a draw or a freak weak hand that beat an all in on flop with no pair but a runner runner gives them straight or two pair. I have limited the amt I will spend anymore and I try to take advantage of freerolls and fpps whenever possible. I prefer to spend real money for real live poker.
