missing the money everytime

Jan 27, 2008 11:59 pm Report Abuse

Hello,
I'm a really new player (playing for less than 2 months), and I play mainly freerolls.
When I'm near the money, I know it's better to wait a bit in order to finish in the money, but each time I make a silly move and get cracked!!!
The last time was today, and I finished 27 of a tournament that paid only 20.
My 99 got cracked by 333 after a silly all-In move...
So sick to finish like that after many efforts...

all these people feeling sick makes me feeling sick much better.

You said it yoursielf -- 'silly all-in move' w 9s, close to the bubble.

Stop being silly, it helps a lot. Youll still get AA, KK etc. cracked sometimes, but at least you'll know u played well with the right cards at the right time.

I've done that many times also, dont give up and maintain patience. Getting close to the money requires different approach. Hard to change style of play that got you that close ,but necessary to advance in your skills. I stay out of big pots and all in plays unless I KNOW I HAVE the NUTZ or have info on my opponent. I've also gotten silly and wasted hours of solid play ( wading thru the madness of freeroll play) get busted out on a weak hand.

I agree with you Makwa, but I had to fight only with the BB, so I kinda hoped I had the best hand... Bad beat, but you're right, I shouldn't have moved with that !

it happen too all of us if you are get that close just take 5 min break and go out side and calm down when you get back you'll bee in the money

you'll finish in the money many times if you keep playing. At some point you'll realize that an all in move w 99 in the small blind, with only the bb left, and you with a short stack, is the only possible move. Better luck next time.

The fact that you are playing near the money line shows a good game for such little expierence. Normally it is a time that the big stacks turn up the heat, and the smaller stacks shut down. It is the people with average stacks that usually bust out near the bubble.

The best advise is to stay out of pots with anyone that can send you to the rail unless you are really strong in the hand. A lot of players that look for a top 15 hand to play in normal situations, will switch to a top 5 hand starting hand requirement when it gets close to the bubble. I have folded middle pairs, and AK, in position before, when middle stacked near the bubble, just for a chance to place in the money

.........play on ......Tc........

thanks for all the advices!

I'll keep trying to do my best. Each time I get cracked, first of all, I'm consoling myself by telling it's a bad beat, but also I try to analyse the situation, and understand where I made a mistake.

gl for you all
