PL Omaha Tips

Jan 27, 2008 8:19 am Report Abuse

Hello All,

Well I decided to start playing some pot limit Omaha Hi only, I'm strictly playing cash at 10/25 cent and 5/10 cent levels. I've been having pretty good success, up $70 from my initial $30 deposit. But anyways I basically know the basics and some strategy for playing. But I was wondering if anyone out there could enlighten me further, I've been looking online but with little luck. Well I just would like to know any strategy or tips everyone might have.

shorthanded tables or full tables?

I'd like to know a bit about both i suppose, I was playin short tables at 5/10 but been doing full tables at 10/25. Does the play of the 12 other cards in or out of play make a huge difference in strategy?

well, id say your best bet is to play short handed so you know who likes to draw with their flush draws even to big bets...I won some money and increased by bankroll by almost 75% but started flopping the nuts and losing to draws on the rivers being all in on the turn and it took my entire roll.

Honestly...you can make a LOT of money in pot limit omaha with your 100 bucks I would buy in for like 5 bucks at the lowest limits you can....you can easily 2x or 3x your buy in with a few hands, then cash out and do it again...if you play 2-3 tables at once and cash out anytime you double your buy in you will win consistently...but KNOW WHEN TO QUIT.

Also...if you flop the nuts on the flop, do not bet it huge...make your decision on the river...It's hard to force out draws so unless you know you are up against a good player they are going to chase to the river and win big pots from you if they catch. Play to the river in PL omaha and dont overplay 2nd nut hand or something even smaller...

two pair in omaha = rags and even small sets are dangerous. PLAY TIGHT and try to play to the river and make your big value bets with the best hand on the river.
