pocket pairs are suppose to be easy to release (even the big ones)

the low ones only have set value, as in u limp them and and call a raise in the hopes of flopping a set and felting a bigger hand. if not release.

Medium pairs are a little trickier as TT can be raisded from utg IMO but u have to use some logic about check/ calling or check/ folding post flop or bluffing top pair. In a Hu pot i'd say u have to make that continuation bet for the same reason uu do with AK even when u'd missed. Ur raised preflop indicates a big hand and ur backing that up with a bet on the flop & ur opponent may not even have a piece of the board or a draw.

In late posiiton even with the smallest of pockets 44-55 if its folded to u i'd have to say raise and then post flop make some judgement about betting depending on the board. sometimes u wanna check it down sometimes u wanna bluff a card like an Ace

it sucks to be dealt too many pockets in a tourney and have nothing come of them. it can deplete ur stack quickly but it must be noted that u can't call a raise for like 15% of ur stack with a pair. at that point u fold or shove.

I agree with duke...everything he said makes sense...

In general at a 9-handed table early in a tourney:

In early position fold 22, 33, 44, 55. Fold or limp w/ 66. Fold to re-raise. Limp w/ 77, 88. Consider folding to raise. Limp or raise w/ 99. Consider folding to substantial re-raise.

In middle position limp w/ 22, 33, 44, and 66. Otherwise fold. Fold to substantial raises. Limp w/ 77, 88 if previous callers. Consider calling raise. Raise w/ 77, 88, 99 if no previous callers. Consider calling re-raise.
