Did i do something wrong??

Jan 16, 2008 8:08 pm Report Abuse

I was playing a trny on Poker Stars, I get Jack of sapdes and queen of spades in the small blind, every but the button folds around to me, i raise twice twice the big blind, BB folds and button calls ..Flop comes A of spades 10 of spades and 8 of hearts, I bet half the pot and he raises three times the pot, which over half my stack.. SO i push all in and he calls..He shows ace king and wins the hand seeing as how he out drew me..Question is Was i wrong in pushing all in after the raise?? Should i have just checked on the flop?? I couldnt lay it down too many outs with the flush draw, the straight draw, and the royal flush possibility..Any advice would help

When he reraised you I would of put him on the ace, yous till had outs, but as of right than you did not have anything. At that point I would of called, and hoped to hit my card on the turn, or possibly get to see the river for free as well.

you had 15 outs....equates to roughly 1 half of the cards remaining in the deck. He was committed to calling your allin, so from an odds standpoint it was the correct decision

well, in a ring game you made the right play, always get your money in if the odds are in your favor.

In a tournament you now have to look at the entire situation....are you shortstacked, are you i the money yet, is it still early, is it possible that I can count Queens or Jacks as outs? I would fold this in a tournament if I'm not desperate for a double up.

You dewfinitely had the right odds, they just didn't work out for you this time. I can't see you doing anything differently really, except maybe checking the flop to see where your hand was at. If he pushed all-in after your check, you might have been able to get away from it knowing had the A, although if you do play the odds, you have to call anything here.

Well Hogz...all I can say is I would have done the same, but you are a bit more experienced at playing that I am, however, I prolly have more chips than you! lmao. Just kidding!

Thats what happen to ppl that think about the odds to much, not allways when you have the odds it's good to go allin even in a tournament... puting everything on a flash or straight draw while you have less than the oppoent or not enough higher stack than the opponet to continue to play if you loose is dumb :s

Well, you obviously know you were beat at that moment. The only thing that could save you there was one of your 15 outs if the person above me has it right. The thing you need to ask yourself if you wanna risk your tournament life just for that hand?. I know its hard to lay down hands like that, but sometimes you just gotta do it
