my result from my regional LIVE trny

Jan 7, 2008 2:12 am Report Abuse

Well I wish I could report some great news as far as my result from my LIVE regional trny tonight but I am unable to. It sorta started a little late due to the main guy for it that runs it was running late so it was a little annoying. Out of 35 that qualified for regionals only 32 showed up to play and there was five tables.

I decided I'd decent to great hands mainly and be aggressive if not a bit more then normal aggressive. The players seen very few hands of mine, so I thought I had a decent table image to the point I had a few players baffled on what I might be holding in my hand. At one point I had a chane to knock out a player pre-flop, I had way in the heck more chips then him so I called his all-in pre-flop. I was holding mid pocket pair, I was the only one left to act. He turns over pocket rockets, they hold out to beat me. After that I was moreless card dead and battled my way back up some until the blinds were doing a number on me and I was getting garbage again.

On the last hand I thought I'd try to do my first bluff since I was the huge short stack on that table. It ended up taking me out and I was aways from gaining my way into the next level. So out of 32 players I lasted about half way to go out about 16 or 17. Wish it could of been better but not too much I could do mainly getting garbage hole cards and even IF I did play them for the most part I would of been giving my chips away.

All I can do now is wait until it may start up again and give it a try. I am still rather content on how I did over all in my first attempt to playing poker LIVE, it was very eye opening to me.

Sounds like it was fun and WTG. Only problem i see is its hard to bluff when you are short stacked. First place next time buddy! You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTG e...I'd prolly agree with Budd on bluffing short-stacked but I guess it gets to a point where you gotta do whatcha gotta do.

GJ.. and I KNOW it feels good just being "live". I've only played two, and the feeling is so different. I got more excited over winning a hand with 2 pair (Q8s) at the live table than I did when I got my 1st straight flush yesterday!

AIN'T NUTTIN' LIKE "LIVE" -- CONGRATS!

First off tyvm. In a small way I am a little bummed out about not making it to the next level but part of me was glad in a tiny way. Reason being is I would of had to have the cash to make the round trip from where I live in Hudson, Wi to Fargo, ND, hotel, food, & odds an ends for two day event. Not that I couldn't come up with it just be a bit of a task to do and figure it out.

A great freind of mine on a different site gave me about the best after thought on this. For being my first time playing LIVE and how far I gotten was amazing. I know there is alot I still need to work on but I tested the waters of playing live now and honestly I am hooked. I know I can hold my own, I know I can keep others from getting a ' read ' on me, and other things. An if I want to I most likely can ask a couple of the players I played against in the local ones that I have a great deal of respect for as players teach me how to become better. I only know of them playing not really personally other then they play a cash game there every week.

I plan on playing more LIVE games when I get the chance to do so I am by no means done not even by a long shot.

The real strange part about the regionals was the night before it. I very seldom remember any dreams I ever have. But for some reason that night I remember this one and of all things it had to be about the regional trny of all things. It was moreless just how my last hand went except I don't know if I was trying to bluff/steal the pot and the worst part I woke up just as the cards were being shown for the showdown.

So it was a bit of a creepy feeling after I realized after I busted out I then counted how many were left still in and found out how many started. Then remembering the dream I just had the night before of it.

Once again tyvm.
