SECURITY ISSUE - PLEASE READ

Jan 1, 2008 10:13 pm Report Abuse

Hello all, I have posted security blogs in the past, but I feel I need to share this as well.

I logged onto Full Tilt Poker today and received this notice.

Now, I have found out who this person is and they are in no way a friend of mine, they are a random online individual who thought they would give it a shot.

I suggest that everyone take control of your accont and change your passwrods OFTEN.

Happy New Year

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't had that problem yet but I'll keep it in mind to change my password from time to time to prevent things like that from happening.

I am in no way defending the person who has done this, but I do know that in the past I have forgot what my account name was (put poker on hiatus) and ended up failling to login several times (I am not sure if the account name I was trying actually existed, but this is a possible explanation). Just figured I'd share my thoughts. Thanks, and good luck.

I find that a good password can be the first letters of the words in a sentence or phrase that you can remember (preferably a phrase only known to you, not a catch phrase) and then add whatever numbers u might want to add... bday, anniversary, etc....

For Example... "We're Not In Kansas Anymore" and Bday = 07/17/1980

p/w would = wnika0717

you just want to make sure the letters don't end up being a common word by accident...

No bunson, this was NOT someone trying to remember theirs. I was not the only prorail they tried to access.

I HAD MADE A BLOQ ON THIS AS WELL THIS IS WHAT I PUT IN IT FULL TILT WONT TELL ME WHO THE PERSON WAS ;( AND FOR SOME DUMB REASON I CANT GET TO MY LOGON HISTORY. seems someone has tryed last night to log on to myfulltiltpoker account they sent me a message about it.i have also contacted secuity@fulltiltpoker.com on this matter.geeze i wonder who would be trying to get on my account .ill give you 1 guess.anyone else ever have this happen? im preety sure who it is.but wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen.Hello Jeff,

Thank you for contactingFull TiltPoker Support.

A new security feature was added to our software to alert players to
any
unsuccessful log in attempts on theirFull TiltPoker accounts.

This alert was triggered on your account because either you entered an
incorrect password when attempting to log in, or another person tried
to
log in to your account.

We reviewed the activity on your account and are pleased to inform you
that your account is secure and all unauthorized log in attempts were
unsuccessful. In regards to whom was attempting to login to your
account, I cannot release the name due to the legal privacy agreement
we
make when a player creates an account, although I have taken the
appropriate action.

There are several ways to protect yourself and keep your account
secure:

1) Never share your password with anyone, not even family or friends.
Treat your password like your bank card PIN, and keep it top secret.

2) Use a complex password. Ideally your password should include at
least
10 alpha-numeric symbols. For example, po_k3R-One is a stronger
password
than poker1.

3) If you decide to use the 'Remember Password' feature, use caution
when allowing others to access your computer. Family and friends may
log
in and play without realizing your account contains real money.

4) Regularly scan your computer for viruses and spyware to ensure there

are no harmful programs on your computer that could capture your
password.

While these precautions cannot completely guarantee the protection of
your computer, they will improve your computer's security.

If you would like to change your account password to make it more
secure, please follow these four steps:

1) Log in to yourFull TiltPoker account.
2) Select "Account" from the top menu bar.
3) Select "Change Password".
4) Enter your current and new password and press "OK".

For other ways to protect yourself online atFull TiltPoker, please

Good luck at the tables, and if you have any other questions, please
let
us know and we will happily assist you, Jeff.

Regards,

Tyler

Best to check your PC for any keyloggers and Spyware. Also maybe change the password for your Email account.
