Heavy heart for this music lover....Part One

Dec 30, 2007 5:07 pm Report Abuse

This is a little long, so if you don't like music, well...

It is with a heavy heart this morning that I try to relate the tragic events of the last week. Being an avid lover of all music, I have always been one to know, and for the most part, have, many of the most state of the art equipment, or 'gadgets' if you will, to enjoy the passion that has been instilled in me from early on...music. I know many of you have the same passion, so I would like to share...bare with me..this is tough..

Having been into the iPod thing since it's invention, my wife and I have built quite an extinsive Itunes library of so many favorites (1600 plus) that it's really overwhelming, for me anyway. I have had the first two generations of the iPod shuffle, and my wife has the first generation iPod nano. Being an electrician, I spend many hours sitting in front of large networking boxes landing wires tieing our systems together where I work. It has been real cool to be able to listen to my tunes while I work....enuf about that.

This xmas, santa brought me a FM transmitter to listen to my iPod in my vehicle.WOW, real cool right? Well I was stoked! this was a great gift, something I had thought about but done without. So a few days ago I was going to try it out. This is where it gets hard to talk about...

In my excitement and joy of hooking up this new device, tragedy took over...You see, you plug the little transmitter into your iPod headphone jack, plug the power cord into the transmitter and the cigarette lighter and, WALA, instant iTunes, or so I thought. You see, the jack on the power supply fits perfectly into the headphone jack on the iPod (see photo). Not only does this not work very well, but the 12 volts jacked backward into the headphone jack is the end of all ends...or the WRONG end of all ends (see photo). So for a few days I have tried to come to terms with what my haste has brought upon me. I fel like an idiot, but more importantly, I feel like I have lost a good friend, my tunes....Part 2 , the rest of the story, yet to come...

PS...Looks to me like whoever built this thing could have made it idiot proof, maybe with different plugs, you know what I mean?

someone was working overtime to figure that one. who would think that two things that the two things would plug in. that just doesn't make sense.

I work on computers and you can't even plug a different laptop charger into the same brand of different years. let alone hook something up that would fry it that fast.

all I can say is, what a bummer. reckon you just have to start again with one song at a time.

good luck

sometimes the inventors miss the little things every one looks at the big picture and its easy to miss something small mabye you should work for apple i hope you will let them know about your problem so that they might tack actions to correct the issue sorry
