Attn: Prorails, Freeroll Ranking Problems!!!

Dec 29, 2007 8:33 am Report Abuse

We have some serious freeroll ranking problems on our hands. Between and including the dates of 12/14 and 12/19 the railbirds who happened to win points in a ranking freeroll are not receiving them. From what I can surmise this seems to be the case across the board.

By my crude estimate, Kamron should be leading the yearly freeroll ranking as of 2007/12/19.

There are many other railbirds who have earned points during that time period who have not received their recognition on the main page of the yearly freeroll ranking. Here is the link to the main freeroll ranking page: http://www.railbirds.com/ranking/index.php?rid=3

You may also notice that I am not on that page.

I used to be on that page until I complained to a Prorail about the problem. Now I am not on the list!

Well, here is the link to my personal ranking score according to railbirds.com as of 2007/12/19: http://www.railbirds.com/ranking/ranking_user.php?userId=8840

If you scroll to the bottom, you can see that I have 9049.19 cumulative points.

I think that puts me somewhere below 60 but above 100!

I hope you find this blog informative and I fervently request that you check it out to verify that what I state is correct.

I joined this site with trust, and so far they have not let me down. I sincerely hope they won't let me down this time.

i've been checking the points myself and have not seen any updates in quite a while now. I'm sure they will be on this soon. Last time i checked i was 88 for december but now it seems like there is a ranker every night so who knows. Gl bro

ty bob, Freerollarmy, and cptmorgan,

I guess I didn't make my point clear. I didn't complain about the most recent updates because the were untimely. Rather because the ones that have already been posted are WRONG!

OMG, as I post this comment on my own blog, I am back on the list, but in 100th place!!

I like QuasiPro. I sent him a PM, and he answered it. He was polite too.

passionplay is a great poker player and timspade is one of the best! What can you say about Cheech420dog that hasn't already been said?

I respect the people at the top of the list and I like several of them. A few of them are even on my friends list. Before they made the big time!!!

There is still a problem and it is wrong!

Compare what the leaders have in points to what their cumulative points should be. I think you will find that if they scored some points between 12/14 and 12/19 that they are not added to their yearly freeroll ranking!

It's not just me, It effects everyone!

I'll use buddmanbob as an example since he was kind enough to post a comment. The yearly ranking says he has 4335.27 points as of 12/19.

buddmanbob actually has 5797.51 on 12/19!

Here is a link to his page: http://www.railbirds.com/ranking/ranking_user.php?userId=9764

I think that was a heck of an improvement. Too bad he doesn't get credit for it.

I am not trying to single anyone out or embarrass railbirds.com.

Just look at where the top 5 players are ranked on the first page and then click on their underlined name and you will see that they usually have more points than they have been given credit for.

Quasipro shows 18967.00 on the main page. He actually has 19062.78 in actual tournament points. That is impressive, but it is no longer the best. Check out my friend Kamron. He is rated at 17533.60, but he actually has, 19395.60.

Kamron won a tournament on Full Tilt on 12/18 but his points were not added to his total for freeroll rankings for the year.

I hope I have made my complaint more clear.

If you can read all of this then you can surely figure out that there is a problem!!!!!

Help!!!!!!

klst921 Dec 29, 2007 1:18 pm
well looked at mine and it's off couple hundred
SkyyCaptain Dec 29, 2007 1:33 pm
Wow...I'm off too. about 400 points (I scored one in mid December for about that amount)

Nice catch sir...hope the prorails and techies can come up with a solution
Midfieldgeneral Dec 29, 2007 1:47 pm

i agree with you, not that i'm in the yearly ranking freeroll, but normally in the monthly of december(freeroll), was kicked out the top 100 with only 150 points behind, got a few placings (61, 100,..) that should get me back in the top 100 but when i check "my ranking" it is not there so i'm also wondering where some points have been..

thanks for this blog!

europhan Dec 29, 2007 2:29 pm

I made the same final table with Kamron on the 18th, so I know he is definitely off on points. I got the points for that night added in my monthly total, but the points were not added for my yearly ranking. My personal page says 8082 points but the ranking says only 6531. I emailed richsgir and she promply replied that it would be fixed with the next update. She did not say however that this update would be prompt.

On a side note...I still think the ranking from the 4th should count. There were many times when people could not access the site in the past and get the password, yet the rankings tournaments still counted. Also, unless you have played every single ranking freeroll, there is always going to be someone that played more than you and had a greater chance to receive points. There are plenty on the yearly top 100 that jumped out to the lead when only 600 to 1000 people were playing. (Note: Good for them, I should have had their foresight). As a disclaimer... The two tournaments that day I finished 12th and then 7th. Based on the number on people in each tournament that would have been about 1400 additional points this month. Solidly into the yearly rankings, but as of the last update....1st place for the month of December....Ughhh.

europhan Dec 29, 2007 2:32 pm
Note on the above...it does have my monthly correct, as of the 19th, at 2449.47 point.
ShowMeJohn Dec 29, 2007 2:43 pm

europhan is absolutely correct, as far as I can tell. The monthly totals for December and all preceding months are accurate.

If you are hoping for a spot in the 1000.00 freeroll for December Top 100 your rankings seem to be correct.

Those players who are in the top 100 for the year, or who think they should be in the top 100 for the year should be concerned.

I have found one serious mistake and another important one has been pointed out to me since I wrote this blog.

I hope that they both can be fixed.

kidflopadelic Dec 29, 2007 2:46 pm

the rankings are in disarray as usual, I hate to say that, but it has become the norm around here. I would love to know just HOW the rankings get updated, but it's probably top secret like so much else around here.

I enjoy this site and the ppl here alot, but the rankings system and the prorails methods of updating need to be disclosed so there is less confusion and frustration, or possibly find a better way of doing things.

BUT, I also realize that the prorails are pretty much voulenteering their time, so we cant put all the blame on them. It's a big ball of confusion and mystery it seems.

Am I the only one who feels this way? What needs to be done to improve things here for the new year.? I want to see this site and community thrive and flourish in 2008. But the lines of communication from admin to members seems to be a low priority lately?

drgdog Dec 29, 2007 3:05 pm
I understand what all of you are saying, but you have to cut the prorails alittle slack here, I feel. It is the holidays and people (prorails) might be busy, out of town, etc. and might not have had the time to update, let alone investigate, the problem. There's nothing wrong about bringing it to their attention, but (I feel) as long as it gets taken care of before the top 100 freeroll is to be played, that should be "good enough". I'm sure some of the prorails are up near the top 100 and want it resolved too.
ShowMeJohn Dec 29, 2007 3:22 pm

Hey kidflopadelic, what are you tripping on? I need some of that stuff. I'm not complaining about any disarray!

I think the updates have usually been timely and are quite fine. I am not complaining about any prorails either. A couple of my friends are prorails! I also enjoy the site.

That doesn't mean that I want it to work poorly or only occasionally, or when it works, Its OK with me if it is pretty close to right when we are talking about facts, numbers and figures.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when you start recording factual information, ie: who wins what tournament, you darn well get it right and live up to your end of the bargin.

My OPINION is that I think this site is the best! It is my favorite of all poker sites other than the ones which actually allow me to play.

That said. I think you did not actually read my blog. Your comment is not even close to the subject that I have brought up!

Who said the rankings are in disarray? Not me!

I just said that the information on the rankings are inaccurate! I have also given information which supports my opinion, should you take the time to look it up! I got problems with the inaccuacy in the freeroll rankings, but not with Railbirds.com.

Don't try to put words in my mouth son!

Mountaineer1 Dec 29, 2007 3:23 pm
i've said nothing either because i was just waiting for new year to start, cause i had non ranking game on pokerstars, were i finished 9th as Cal-Q-Layton and never received for that . So maybe this does need addressed. ty
walkindog Dec 29, 2007 3:38 pm
hmmm....as of now i'm 51st for year...hope its right.....cause the last couple weeks i've not been playing up to par cause i kinda figured i was locked in so i was focusing on other things...
ShowMeJohn Dec 29, 2007 3:42 pm

I need to make a MAJOR CLARIFICATION!!! I don't hold any prorail responsible for the problems with the Freeroll Ranking 2007.

I only used the Attn: Prorails in the title of the blog hoping that a few would notice it and take the time to read it, and hopefully address the problem.

The prorails on this site have my sincere respect as well as my eternal thanks for all they have done, and I have no desire to heap problems or disparaging remarks upon them!

I just want someone to help me fix the problem with the inaccuacies in the yearly Freeroll Ranking 2007 page!

ButtonDog Dec 29, 2007 4:14 pm
It may be the same thing that happened for last month when some of the points for the freeroll and real money were switched.
