#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
Nothing too original I am afraid. My initials and my month and day of birth. Use the same name everywhere. Easy to remember and at my age, I need all the help I can get.
#2 How would you define your style of play?
Tight/Conservative but working on being more Aggressive
#3 Poker Achievements?
I have won a few online tournaments here and there. Nothing spectacular but to me ever win is an achievement.
#4 what brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
Chermichelle invited me. I met her playing on
Full Tilt through other Railbird friends
and when she told me about the site, I knew I had to check it out. What keeps me here are the WONDERFUL PEOPLE! I have found so many new friends. I know I am a “railbird addict” and probably should be attending meetings for my problem BUT that would mean I would have to give up Railbirds and “That ain’t gonna happen!”
#5 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
Phil Helmuth…just for the joy of taking him out…LOL
#6 how have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
Mostly by playing a lot of hands. I have not read any books but I know that is a tool I have overlooked and plan on remedying that oversight very soon. If anyone reading this interview has some good suggestions for books to read, please pm me. I need all the help I can get.
#7 Who are 5 players you look up to on railbirds and why?
That is a tough question. There are so many and for different reasons. Being limited to 5, I would say, Redassedape, Dumbbrit, Mr Broadhead, Chermichelle and Astrogini. Now, I have had to leave out some great people, like Katchagirl, Laceypearls, cheech420dog, fasededdy, pokerprincess, ….I could keep going for a long time. They are all VERY good players and even better people. Please forgive me if I didn’t mention you by name. Just know that I think all of you are wonderful!
#8 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games?
I tend to play much more conservatively in tournaments than I do in cash games. I am trying to learn to be more aggressive in all my play.
#9 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
Where do I begin. First is “chasing” a straight or flush. I have made great improvements along this line, with a lot of help from my fellow Railbirds. Also, I have a tendency to under bet a good hand pre flop. Every time, it seems, that I make an aggressive bet, say with AA, in the end I get beat. I know all the strategy of how to play this but I have played AA so badly that, believe it or not, I fold it often after the flop and first round of betting. Really need to work on this a lot.
#10 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online Poker player is bluffing ?
I watch their betting patterns, especially when they go all the way to the show down and I am able to see their cards. Betting patterns are the only way I can begin to tell what someone may have. I have made vast improvements along those lines too. I used to be bad about not paying attention to the hand if I wasn’t in it and some others may do this as well. Take it from me. Never stop watching other players. You can sometimes learn more when you are not involved in a hand than when you are.
#11 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
It has helped in so many ways I can not begin to count them. I have received so much good advise by reading the blogs, listening to and watching the really good players within our community. Railbirds has been the major factor in my beginning to get a real good handle on my “chasing” issues. I’m not saying I never do it anymore, but I do it a WHOLE LOT LESS than I used to. I now recognize at what point “chasing” needs to stop and I should fold my cards. Before, I would chase to the “bitter end” and most times it was very bitter indeed.
#12 Best Moment in a trny ?
This happened just recently. I had pkt 4s. I know that isn’t that great a hand to start with but I was on BB and most players just called. There was one 2x BB raise and I called. Two others did as well. Flop was 4 4 2. … Time to do my happy dance …but I didn’t want to run anyone out of the hand. How to play this? There were three players left in the hand after the flop. Player to my left raised to the pot. (250) SB called, I reraised to 350. Both players called. Turn was 2 ! Player to my left bet 1,000, SB called and I raised 2,000 . Both players called….River was K. All three players remaining went all in…..Show Down. 4 4 2 2 K on the table. Player to my left showed pkt Ks,(full house Ks full of 4s) SB showed pr 2,s (full house 2s full of 4s ) and ME….well you know what I had…..4 4 4 4 ! What an incredible hand. That hand was still being talked about an hour later by those who had witnessed it.
#13 Most recent trny win?: (non railbird trny)
Been a while. Let me see if I can remember back that far. LOL I think it was about 3 weeks ago, in a 18 player SnG on FT. At one point, I was down to 120 chips on the final table. Chip leader had over 39,000. I came all the way back and won the tournament!!! This just proves that no one is out of the game as long as they have 1 chip left!
#14 Who intrduced you to poker ?
My brother (BATGUANO to all the Railbirds). He taught me to play at a very early age. As a matter of fact, I learned to count to 21 by playing poker and I can tell you that when I started school, it was a real SHOCK to me to find out that the numbers 1 and 11 looked nothing like an ACE! I was traumatized for weeks….LOL I have loved the game of Poker every since. My greatest sense of achievement comes from beating him, but afraid that doesn’t happen too often but it does happen now more than it used to.
#15 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com?
I have used a lot of what I have learned, recently, to practice new strategies during the Freerolls. Playing Tight/Conservative keeps me in the games a bit longer. I have not won one yet but I have finished as high as 16th and I was very please with that. I have also just begun to be a bit more aggressive in the Freerolls, trying out new ways of playing. I look at each Freeroll as an opportunity to learn and improve, practice new strategies and mix my game up a bit. So, if you play with me and I do goofy stuff that makes you say “what in the heck is she doing now?” .. that is what I am doing..LOL
